Saving for my Evo
Yeah dude, im in the same boat. Wanted an evo every since i knew they were comin out. Workin for the govt this summer so i should be savin up a lot. Cant wait to get my hands on one
Also, drive VERY safely. If you are young, it only takes a few minor infractions to make your insurance go through the roof. Once you get your evo, shell out the couple hundred to do a high performance driving event (after break in of course) and you'll be loving your car, not to mention really knowing what it's like to drive on the limit.
They are awsome, I sure love mine. Just so you know what to expect: Tires last about 10K (personal exp and R&T long term test) brakes about 20k (R&T). I get 18 19 mpg unless I run 98 octane and reset the ecu (I have had it up to 22mpg). With every discount in the world and a clean dmv insurance cost is $60 a month (full coverage with State Farm $500 deductable, rural area). Just thought you'd like a little total cost. If you toast the clutch you may end up with a garage queen (I have smoked mine three times but it is still solid). If you are thinking of mods (faster is better too fast is just right) wait until you are sure you have no warranty problems as the dealers love to dump you.

Thanks for the insurance numbers, sounds like me or my parents need to shop around a lil more because my dad says mine is 1900 a year for a 92 civic. Im only 18 but I still think it's too much. Also, i asked my local dealer about their warranty on the evo and here is the reply:
"Typically the warranties are only effected by mechanical changes and you wouldn't want to change the engine, or suspension, they are tuned for maximum performance. Of course if you change something electrical and the system burns out, it wouldn't be covered."
So I dunno how thats gonna work out. I think that mechanical changes are what the thing really needs. Anywho, I guess I'll just worry about gettin the car first, then deal with it's issues.
