HEy guys....im thinkin about sprayin my car.....just wanted to know actually how many people have blown their pistons...other than boe...or had any other problems if at that...i have a friend who's running a 75 shot dry nex kit in his lancer.....he's had it for like a year...and he only blew a stock spark plug...but eerything else is fine..and if i do get NOS im goin like a 35 to 50 wet shot, which is much safer.

In a related question, if you got the JE pistons and the Crower rods from RRM, would the Lancer be pretty NOS-safe? Or would the engine block still be in danger?

pretty much everyone on these forums that had nos blew one of their pistons. the ring lands are too thin and can't take the abuse. i don't really believe your friend has a 75 shot and his motor is still holding up.

with forged pistons and rods the motor would be much more bullet proof and yes you'd be able to run more nos without worring about blowing something. i'm pretty sure the block can take a beating b4 that breaks.

I believe I heard somewhere that the lancers can take a 30-35 shot.

Do it and find out. Honestly, Ive been here since 2001 and every person that has run nitrous (or NOS as you kiddies call it) has blown something up. By something I mean a piston or a rod. Its your check book, have fun....

I have a difficult time deaming even momentary trips into the lean safe. Perhaps with proper fuel accompanying the nitrous (eg. a wet kit), but I would personally not recomment nitrous on any Lancer with a stock bottom end. has anyone had valve problems as a result? I'd imagine things aren't too fun up top either when N2O is introduced.

I'll second that. I don't think I've heard a single person on this forum say they put NOS on without coming back within a month or two griping that they blew something.

What Happens if you just run your Nitrous only like once a week to mess around on the highway or less then that.. every other week.... what it cause long term damage to the engine?

Running lean is running lean. The damage it does will not regenerate. It will gradually or rapidly get worse and worse. At best you're prolonging failure as compared to "Regularly" using it. Chances are you'd be using it under heavy load though so you're at a greater risk for catastrophic failure than damage over time in my opinion.

It's your car. Do what you will with it. I've blown my car up, and I've done stupid things with it, but I will not use nitrous on it.

how do you blow a spark plug?

and as far as 'long term damage' goes, it may only take one 35 shot of N20 to blow the motor. and if the motor did last 'long term' im sure the valve seals and any other flex-sensitive parts would not be happy with the quick bursts of extra heat causing everything to rapidly expand.

i would get as far away from nos as you can if you have anywhere near a stock engine.
