Cool Let's say I have a grand...

... to spend on my evo.
It's bone stock, and obviously, I don't have a lot of money to spend modding it.
How would you guys spend a grand to make the car go faster?
(Other than remove some seats and save the measly grand for premium gas and synthetic oil, ha-ha.)
I'd appreciate any input.

Can you scrape up a couple hundred more? If I were you I would buy all of Buschur Racing Stage 1. You should be able to install this fairly easily yourself with little outside assistance. You only need a little more loot to be able to send in your computer for Flashing. But you'll have the following:

K&N Air Filter Kit
3-inch Turbo-Back exhaust (with test pipe or with hi-flow cat)
Manual Boost Controller (you can set at 19 or 20 psi)
And either the Super AFC II or the Flash

This should take you close to 300 horses to the wheel and a high 12 second quarter mile pass. Your biggest difference will be seen in the top end with the boost controller keeping boost steady through the upper RPM. The intake and exhaust not only will increase your power, but give some subtle sound as well. You'll here the turbo spin and the blowoff valve release, and you'll have a nice exhaust tone to boot.

BUT....DON'T DO THESE MODS WITHOUT TUNING...I recommend the Flash.

Now, if you can squeeze as much as 2000 buckaroos........go all through stage 2. This will include new upper intercooler piping and a small battery kit. You'll also get a nice new MAF pipe from Buschur. AND, you'll only have to flash once if you get both steps at the same time.

If you go through stage 2, you'll have around 360 properly tuned wheel horse and a nice *** 12 flat stomp on the quarter.

Good Luck

Thanks for the input, man...

Right now, I'm worried about spending money on a clutch - I don't "launch" by feathering the clutch; I drive it pretty sedately... but the clutch feels so soft, I'm a little bit concerned. Especially after all the "my clutch is shot at 5k" posts.

I have about 2k on mine, and I guess/hope it's just paranoia... I had a VW Golf with a wire clutch - I wish I could tighten mine up on the evo. (without spending a bunch of money)... I could spend almost 2 grand on a clutch and flywheel alone, from what I've seen.

In closing, I finally got a thinking response! In the newbie forum, no less. 360 at the wheels for 2k, really? That's awesome. I'm going to go sell some plasma, now.

Thanks again.
