2005 EVO MR or 2005 STI
I guess you are quoting results of the USDM MR. I have not seen any figures for the US car with respect to 1/4 mile figures except whats quoted on this site for horse power). The us car was quoted as having 276 hp and the sti is 300. I was only making reference to hp and not 1/4 mile times.
For all those who keep persisting that Mitsubishi is going down, one thought comes to mind.
Mitsubishi has been around longer than I'd bet most of us on this forum. And when I say that I mean since birth! They were around building bi-planes for crying out loud. Mitsubishi Zero, the infamous plane during WWII for example.
Now, Mitsu motors might be in some financial trouble but come on, they will survive as a motor company because their parent company owns or has their hands in almost everything electronical. Plus, even if they do go out, that makes me even happier because then the EVO will become a collectors item.
So for me, the issue about Mitsu doesn't exist.
In regards to your decision, you will be happy with either one. I chose the EVO because of styling. The performance for both cars outrate almost every car out there for under 35g's. Just my .02 peace...

You will be very happy with either. Drive them both and make your own decision.
4.2 to 60 is very optimistic. I can't see that. What's the MR HP rating. I thought only 15 or so more HP. And will the 6 speed have a slower time to 60 like the STI because of the 2 to 3 upshift or will the MR hold 2nd to 60?

I usually see evo being faster by a tenth or two under equally skilled drivers.Never mind your talking about drag racing

Stock for stock, the Evo is right there with the STI at the 1/4 mile. I have seen them run side by side many times at the track and there is very little difference and that is attributable to the driver. It actually seems like the Evo has more midrange power and most races leads most of the race and close finishes.
Rape the Evo in the 1/4 is overstated.
