whats up everyone?...i just picked up my 02 Lancer ES two days ago i am definately happy with my car anyway i used to own a 99Mirage sedan some similarities in both cars the Lancer feels alot heavier and quiter...my mirage was really light a nimble but i am happy with the comfort of the Lancer. Power wise the Lancer definately has great torque compared to the Mirage 1.5L motor its a hell of alot better motor!

lol....anyway just wanted to say whats up and to let you guys know that i'll be around for awhile to rock up my Lancer...i mostly hang out in the MirageForums.com site but i should be visiting this forum much more than before (which was never) -=oP not from ignorance or anything...i just never had the time to visit more than 1forum...Mirageforum's kept me busy with talk about upgrades and such....well in any case if you guys want to please visit Mirageforums.com and drop a line im pretty sure we can all help each other out i already noticed a few members from the Mirageforums hanging out here...well ok thats it for me. just like the mirageforums i'd like to make you guys more than just a tech site but friends as well. -=o]

some questions i've been browsing the board and noticed people talking about things being different between the OZ Rally and ES format Lancers....what exactly is differnt? body and interior wise i can tell but what about the performance parts of it? motor upgrades? suspension? etc. etc....which of the two has good aftermarket support?...kinda retarded...yeah i understand mitsu's part but it makes modding harder now i have to look for specific product that will work on ES cant just get a Lancer product you gotta make sure it will work on an ES...damn makes me wonder if i should've gotten an OZ Rally edition instead...this sux...i thought the differences were only cosmetic things between the OZ Rally and lower base models -=o\ i guess im assed out huh?

 

The cool thing about the ES, is that it's almost 100% confirmed (have some "soft" info, and am awaiting a definite from the helpful folks at Road Race) that the ES can use 5G Mirage suspension componentry and brake componentry. That'd mean a various amount of springs, KYB AGX and GR-2 shocks, as well as all the LS/OZ stuff with little or no modification.

hmmm 5g suspension parts hmmmmmmm that would be really great i still have a ton of my 5g stuff hanging around...cusco...teins....lol it would be nice not to spend another 1200 for coil overs and the cuscos...

well thats good news i remember someone jumping on the Mirageforums asking if anyone in the bay area could help him figure if 5g parts worked on the Lancers...

[pjal84] hmmm i just checked out that 2002/03 parts list link you have on your sig...its says there that the ES has 4x100 bolt pattern? wow seems like mitsu did stick mirage hardware up front...hmmmm this is a really nice list theres a good list of parts out there for the Lancers...but which parts fit the ES and which fit the OZ?

That was me on the 'Rage forum asking for help then someone posted here that the part numbers for the front and rear of the Mirage and Lancer were the same. The Progress springs Road Race sells for the ES are from the 5G 'Rages. Everything from an OZ will fit the ES but the suspension pieces. Take the RMR/Ralliart struts. To big apparently for the stock ES mounts. Take the mounts from an OZ and slap them on an ES. Voila. Done. Same with the Tein coilover and I'm assuming the JIC-Magic coilovers as well (albeit, I think the JIC equipment replaces the top mounts). In short, it's not the equipment that's the problem, it's the mounts.

so all i'd have to do to be able to use Ralliart/RRM/RMR strut bars specifically made for the Lancers is to get the top mounts off a OZ Rally edition Lancer?


damn wonder how much a set of strut mounts would be from an OZ...guess its time to check the junkyards for a set...-=oP

before i do so...are there any other alternatives?

Er...the strut braces get bolted onto the (3) bolts sticking out of the strut tower. It's that black plastic mount (along with one or two more small things) that's the problem. Find the thread (search for differences).
