I'm using Yokohama so I'm partial to those obviously, but Falken and Toyo make excellent tires as well.

Hope you don't mind, but I added a couple choices.

Just my personal opinion, but Nanking only exists because they offer large sizes, such as 18s, 19s, 20s, etc. I found BFGs to be excellent in handling performance and they come in the proper size for the Lancer, unlike Falken with their limited sizes.

I have no experience with Dunlop and in fact voted Yokohama, but I will say that's not something you should hold against them. I had the stock Yokos on my car (and still do on the rears) and I recognize they are horrible, but I've got past experience with their tires and have a set of Avid V4s tires on the front now that I'm extremely happy with. The stock tires, regardless of brand, are essentially the worst possible tire each manufacturer makes... The Yokos I had don't even correspond with anything Yokohama actually sells.

I agree, Mitsu went real cheap on tires for the Lancer. Goodyear, Yokohama, Dunlop, they bought the crappiest models from each of them!

If you don't need an all season tire, Falkens RULE! You can get 'em relatively cheap and they're a total blast to drive.
I had some Toyo FZ4s that I might keep for winter, but I might not. The only place out here that sells Toyo tires is Les Schwab and they're expensive as h3ll! I paid $125 a piece for the toyos, and only paid $80 for the Falkens. The FZ4 dry traction is like 6/10. They're easy to break loose from a standstill/drag launch and when they heat up like at my last autocross they chattered REAL bad when I launched them (no gip when warm). The wet traction is just about as good, although I was finidng myself spinning them into third gear routinely when it was wet.
I've heard good things about the Proxes 4, and the T1-s. But I couldn't justify the price for those all season tires when the Azenis' were so cheap.
The Azenis dry traction is 10/10 when cold and like 12/10 when they get a little warm and sticky I've only had them for a month and it hasn't been that wet (surprising for Seattle weather...) but they held up really well the couple of wet days we had- almost as good as dry traction. The sidewalls are super hard, so you do feel a little more bumpiness, but the steering response is bizarrely fast- almost precognative at times I can't say enough good things!

www.1010tires.com has LOTS of good info on most of the brands listed.

Good poll!

Yeah true I shouldn't really judge them based on their worst just when you have to get new tires at 24k km's cause the treads so worn down kinda biases you against them.

Yea the stock tires don't last worth a crap on the EVO mine were shot at 10k. Now Im running dangerously bald at 13k (I'll be buying new ones this weekend). I think I am going to try Toyo Proxy 4's. From what I have found from ppl who have driven on them and from other research they handle pretty good in ALL weather conditions (I live in the northwest so thats important) And their lifespan is rated at 40k+ miles so I figure i should be good for at least 20k-25k out of them.

Bro, don't cheap out ond get Proxes 4's! If you're gonna get toyos and don't wanna ***** that they suck ***** compared to your Advans get the T1-s..... actually, to get the same performance you'll prob need the RA. But, then you'd be getting R compunds to replace some R compounds and would get the same miles out of them.
I'm just saying you bought an Evo... Tires is not the place to save a few bucks, because that would make your performance suffer something firece...
