IS there a conversion out for the US LAncer to go from SOHC to DOHC. and if so is it really worth the trouble?

Has anybody looked into a MIVEC swap? How does 200 BHP normally aspirated sound?

FTO engine

As the FTO can use your engine perhaps you can use its.

(taken from other thread) That V6 MIVEC is a whole different animal than any of the 4 bangers that have been hypothesized. The fitment is probably the biggest issue since even a tiny 6 like that is still probably to big. The only other viable option is a 2nd gen 4G92 MIVEC engine but the rarity and the cost would be enough to dissuade most people. Gotta agree with Pimp.

Just playing devils advocate. I would not try the upgrade myself. I generally tell people if you want a fast car buy one.

Duh? As in, “you are a stupid mouth breathing idiot”?

MIVEC + TC = not worth the effort

cost of the swap + tc parts and tuning will not equal in HP as an EVO swap in similar cost

It only takes an uninsured driver or drunk to wipe out such investment.

If you already have MIVEC as in some euro and pacific rim owners, go ahead TC it by dropping the CR. Then again, how fast can a TC 1.6L be . . .

"I meant duh as in Housing and Urban Development acronym in the mirror."

THAT was funny.

can I ask why people want to do engine swaps on brand new cars instead of just buying faster cars? do you really like the look of the US Lancer (econo car) that much? I could see buying a old-busted POS and doing an engine swap to make it a sick fast car....but why buy a brand new car and swap the engine? just turbo or supercharge it.....that's more fun anyway, just my opinion.

yeah, that is a great question. But I would have to assume that yes, most people just liked the looks of the US Lancer that much but the 120hp was something they didn't notice before buying it?
I may have to switch my stance and start supporting those in favor of swapping, I could use a proliferation of slightly used 4g94 engines available.

Glad you cleared that up for me. I thought I might have felt a ripple in the flow of positive energy.

I do appreciate your versatility with TLA’s.

Swap. Yup.

Lancer guys shouldn't be thinking about swap until they hit beyond 85K in mileage. It's still a new car.
