Black anodized 4" ETS intercooler

So it's finally finished. ETS came through with a beautiful 4" intercooler. Apex Anodizing in Reno, NV finished it off with the super sleeper look. Fitment was wonderful. Had to remove the bumper bar, and I will have it trimmed later on. Although they are cell phone pics, they speak for themselves. ETS was awesome to work with and everything was delivered as expected. I'd Dyno it, but there are no dynos in the Reno area. I hope the stocker 8 turbo can fill this thing up.

Does the anodizing effect the the heat transfer of the IC?

Theoretically it should improve heat transfer by increasing surface area on a molecular level, but the results I have researched have shown no measurable change.

Ummmm no. Theoretically it would cause thermal insulation and decrease the intercoolers thermal efficiency. Aluminum oxide does not transfer heat as well as aluminum. Sorry but this is a mod to be avoided for those who want performance.

There is a huge thread going back and forth on this and at the end.. the majority agree that this is something to avoid.. if you expect the best performance...

It looks good.. no doubt.. but its not keeping you from spanking other cars.. keep it up and get them quality pix..

Black anodizing will get chipped like any other anodized product. It will look great when new, but after little sand and rock bits hit it, it's going to look just okay.
