ETS 3.5 TBE specifics?

looking to do my first mod and promised myself wasnt gonna do anything "cheap on this car(e-bay tbe) so after some reaearch came to the conclusion i really like the the ETS tbe , but having trouble with some specifics:

- is the turbo-back a downpipe>cat delete> catback or
downpipe and cat-delete combo> catback?

-does the tbe have all the necassary O2 bungs(lol)?
any reports of check engine lights?

- i know its a loud exhaust but how loud? over 93db? or nj limit?

- any reports of specific hb gains with a stock evo with just the tbe?

- would i be able to put in a silencer?

sorry if they are dumb questions just wanna make sure of the specifics before i spend da cash, pics/vids only tell so much.... thanks!

The turbo-back system is a downpipe and downpipe-back system that eliminates the cat. It will come with a factory o2 sensor bung in the OEM location and as with all catless systems without an o2 mounting extension (we can supply these) will turn on the check engine light on factory ECU cars. It is loud in the non-resonated version (the quiet resonated version is $99 more) and would not meet the legal limit. Gains depend on the other modifications on the car but given its minimum 3" straight through diameter on the 3" systems and 3.5" on 3.5" systems, will maximize the power potential of any setup We have built custom silencers in the past and could engineer one for you as well if interested

thanks, nothing like hearing directly from the company themselves!

just so im clear the o2 extension will take care of a check engine light?

and the tbe with resignator will significantly reduce noise levels?(closer to legal limit)

Yes the o2 extension will allow the o2 sensor to read what it needs to read to keep the check engine light off Adding the resonator reduces the sound level significantly and makes the tone very mellow. I doubt very much that you'd get any attention from law enforcement with a resonated system

Hey Tom

Is there less power with the resonated version?

I can answer this... Any resonated system will be more restrictive than a full unresonated system.. so yes, it will rob you of a few hp.. but not enough to be that significant if you are that worried about sound.

Krishna,
Actually in the testing we've done, because both designs would be straight through with no obstruction, that there is no power loss by adding a resonator. If you were to add a baffled unit then yes, but with the Aero-Turbine resonators we use, the flow will stay the same

The 3" TBE would be $948 and add $150 for the 3.5" version. It is $99 additional with either system to add an Aero-Turbine resonator

I've now resurrected two ETS system threads, sorry. But I have a question on the resonator, how much does your resonators do if they don't decrease flow at all, have you done any tests on DB levels? if not could you at least give me an honest opinion of whether it significantly decreases sound?

Also, if it barley if at all decreases flow, couldnt you put two resonators on your 3.5" and be quiet but still outflow most if not all 3" systems? Having a double resonated 3.5" could be the soultion for all the people who want strong performacne without a very loud exhaust.

Hello,

When adding the Aero Turbine resonators to the exhaust system the decrease in sound is very minor. We have been kicking around the idea of going with a ultra quite design resonator from vibrant.

We currently use this resonator in our Evolution X Exhaust System. Running just an axle back with 3" piping the sound is around 20db higher then a stock car.

The problem with this resonator is it's only available in 2 1/4" to 3"

We can also use a vibrant muffler instead of the Aero Turbine muffler to help reduce the noise.

If you have any other questions let me know!

Thanks!

Michael

So all in all using 2 Aero Turbine resonators really wouldnt do all that much, especially for $200

I would recommend going with an Aero Turbine resonator and a Vibrant 4" straight through muffler. The Vibrant mufflers help reduce the noise.

Thanks,

Michael

I'm not sure which muffler we are going to use yet, but here are a couple options with 3" inlets.

for the 3.5" exhaust we can do one of the following

Once our shop Evolution 8 is back up and running we are going to test out a couple different resonators and muffler combos

These exhaust systems will be special order for now.

Thanks!

Michael
