ETS 4 inch Exhaust

Hi everyone.
The purpose of this thread is to get other peoples opinions and experiences regarding the use of larger exhausts.

I currently have the ETS T3 turbo kit (HTA35R) on order (equal length manifold) with the ETS 4 inch intercooler and short piping.

Now I currently have a 3 inch Apexi hi-flow cat and 3 inch Trust TI exhaust. I was think of ordering the ETS 4 inch exhaust in the quest for more power.

My main dilema is, will i have much gain going to the ETS 4 inch downpipe back exhaust over staying with my current exhaust set up?

The ETS downpipe back system will my my set up cat free if I purchase it, so i might make some more power there, but will the extra inch help mark more power?

The ETS T3 kit is 3 inch from the turbo to the end of the downpipe FYI.

Thoughts?

Lastly (Hope that Tom might chime in here), can I get a removable silencer for the ETS 4 inch system? So when im at the strip for cruzin I can take it out and hear the loud exhaust, and put it back in for a trip or getting my vehicle inspected.

Cheers
David

There is absolutely no reason to go with a 4" exhaust. You would be fine with a 3" exhaust, but if you want to step it up to the 3.5" for the extra grumble, go for it.

hey this isn't supra forums, haha. But a catless 3 inch should be fine, you can get their 3.5 inch if you MUST have maximum piping diameter.

Size is everything!!!

Just kidding.

Will I lose any power, or will there be any down side to be going with the 4 inch?

you should be fine with the 3in....but if you have plans to go bigger turbo in the future, 3.5 would be optimal.

David,
If you want to go bigger, the 3.5" would be the largest I'd go in hopes of any flow gains given the size of the turbocharger and its maximum capacity. You'd be ready for an HTA37R later with a 3.5" system Rather than restrict flow with a silencer, for keeping things quiet we can install a 3.5" straight through Aero-Turbine resonator which drastically reduces the exhaust volume and mellows the tone without sacrificing flow. Let me know your thoughts!

why would you want to replace Ti exhaust ??? Put a test pipe, and be done with it. I don't think you will gain much power by going bigger .

I love my TI exhaust, but sadly its bringing me too much attention. It is that loud and deep that my girlfriend can hear my car coming down the road whilst she is inside her office!!

Also having the coloured/burnt TI exhaust tip draws unwanted attention too.

I just want an exhaust that will make me more power, but wont sound too loud. I'm leaning towards the 3.5 inch down pipe back with the resonator.

3.5" is supposed to be good for 1000 hp + from what I've read.

Well i wont be making 1000hp anytime soon. So 4 is overkill.
Maybe if someone has the resonator used by ETS they could post a sound clip because I would like to hear how loud it is.
Tom said it works quiet well with no restiction.

The 3.5" system and the 3.5" resonated system sound levels are night and day. I'm amazed by how much sound suppression a straight through 3.5" resonator can provide! Unfortunately I don't have any sound clips of resonated versions, but it is significantly quieter.
