Need help on which car.
Need help on which car.
I know there has been a billion and one post about the sti and mr, but this is real life with real numbers for me. I put three thousand down on the evo MR about two months ago, and like many others have been waiting for this car. I recently visited the sabaru dealer to get a price quote on the 05 sti and this is the msrp price 34,005 including destination(options-upgrade alarm, boost gauge, and short shifter) . I talked to him and he said that he would give me the car out the door for 33,843 and i could have the car by next week in my color. Now that the MR edition msrp is out, i calculated the price the mr would cost me out the door. Here it is:
msrp 34199
destination to my dealership=595.00
5% Maryland state tax=1,709.95
tags=295.00
total cost out the door if i were to get it for MSRP= 36,798.95
The price difference between the two would be a total of=$2,955.95
Now i know without a doubt that the MR edition is a better car, i already have bought the MR tails, uk badges and turbo timer with harness for this car, but man sabaru has laid out a great deal for me and now im on the fence. Here is the thing though i can get the sti next week in white with gold bbs. My white Evo MR edition will not be here till the second week of november because im located in Maryland and thats when my car is suppose to arrive. also i have not been promised msrp either. So the price up top is the best possible price i could get. I think im going to find out tomorrow if im getting it for msrp, if not, than i will withdraw my money and have the sti on my driveway in 9days. what do you guys think??
sorry for so much, just had to vent, i really want my new car soon

You have it wrong the price is 34,199 with the 800 package price included. All you have to pay after that is destination and taxes.

YOUR IN A TUFF SPOT MY FRIEND. WHEN I BOUGHT MY EVO I NEVER EVEN LOOKED INTO THE STI's, I JUST DECIDED I WANTED AN EVO AND WENT OUT AND BOUGHT IT. SINCE I HAVE BOUGHT MY EVO I HAVE GONE OUT AND COMPARED THE TWO. I HAVE SEEN MY EVO SIDE BY SIDE WITH STI's OUT IN PARKING LOTS AND DECIDED I DO LIKE THE EVO LOOKS BETTER, AND FROM ALL I HAVE READ IN THE PAST SEVEN MONTHS ABOUT THE TWO, THE EVO IS HANDS DOWN THE BETTER CAR. ALTHOUGH THEY BOTH KICKASS!
IT IS TOTALLY YOUR DECISION, YOU GET THE CAR YOU WANT. IF THE ONLY REASON YOU WANT THE STI IS BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT 34 MORE DAYS AND YOU MIGHT SAVE $100 BUCKS, I WOULD WAIT FOR THE EVO
BUT IF YOU TRULY LIKE THE STI MORE GET THE STI. I'M HAPPY I GOT MY EVO, I HAVE SEEN STI's ALMOST ON A DAILY BASIS, SOMETIMES TWO OR THREE A DAY. BUT IN SEVEN MONTHS I HAVE ONLY SEEN FOUR OTHER EVO's ON THE STREET. I LIKE HAVING A CAR THAT EVERYBODY AND THERE MOM DOESN'T HAVE. ANYWAY THAT's MY 2CENTS ON THE WHOLE THING, IT'S UP TO YOU.

I think im going to get the o5 sti, although i know the mr edition is better and probably worth the extra few, but my brother is first on the list for one and i dont want to get the same exact car as him, so ill try the subie i guess............i tried to convince him to get the subie and for me to get the MR but he said hes been waiting much longer than i have...so older brother wins

They are both kickass cars, and you have to make the call, but the Evo can be modified easier than the STI and creates way more horsepower upon simple mods. I spent $1700 and increased 70 WHP. I haven't seen any Subie get that kind of power out of such little $$$. It is inevitabley your choice, but I think the Evo will outhandle,( with some mods) out-power, and out class the STI.....without a Doubt. Price is higher on an MR......but you get what you pay for.....guaranteed.
Both cars are great... they both have their advantage and disadvantage... but yes.. you do get what you pay for... so just go with the car you like the most... like base on look... if you are on tight budget.. then consider the STi... if couple hundred doesn't really matters to you.. then go with the one you always wanted.. i knew i wanted to get an EVO ever since the 3rd edition... so once the Evo arrived in the US... i just focus on Evo and didn't even look at the STi...

i guess your older brother will always win , when it comes to evo vs sti
Just came back for test drive of the Sti. The car was amazing and i really enjoyed driving it. I remember driving my bro's 03 evo before he wreaked it and it pretty much feels the same. the subie felt i little bit bulkier and steering was not as sharp as the evo. I really like the interior compared to the evo its a little more nicer inside. When my brother went to buy his 03evo he also looked at the sti but because the sti was more bakc then, he did not get it. also we both didnt like the way the car looked especially without the frontmount. but now that i have looked at it a while i kind of like the way it looks, its beginning to grow on me. Because my bro is getting the MR, i will get the subie just for something different, we can always swap cars every once in a while.

$3500 SAME THING.
