I know it has it on launch but unsure if it will effect in-between up shifts as well.
Anyone know?

No it does not effect up shifts only when you launch, think about it....if u can't shift above 5k rpm how gay would that be, They only put the limit on wen u have ur clutch pressed down in first gear i believe so ppl wont ruin the clutch launchin above 5k all the time and ask for replacement under warrenty...cheapoz.

Agreed. And if you wanted to launch above 5k, i'm sure it can be easily removed.

Kinda like the Galant. My little brother had a rental Galant one week, and we beat the crap out of it. What else are rentals for, eh? One thing that I couldn't stand was that you couldn't gas it past a certain rpm (and it was very low) while the brake was on, to launch it (it was an auto).

Does this mean the 03 and 04 Evo 8 will be quicker in the 1/4? I thought over 5000 is needed for a good launch.

no, the mr has more horsepower/torque
not necessary above 5000 to have a good launch

it's only 5 hp.and being the drag racer i am.5000rpm isn't enough.5500-6000 seems to be right on target.i tried lower 4k-4500-5k.just not right for good times.

I wonder if you can bypass it by just disconnecting the clutch switch.

Unless the ECU's programmed to set the redline at 5k rpm if your speed is 0 or something under 5 mph.

Sorry sir. All 2005 EVO's have the same 5 H.P. and 13 lb. of torque increase. The MR just advertises it.

My car has the 5000 R.P.M. cutoff. Basically if the clutch is depressed, the engine will not rev pass 5000. Even states it in the owners manual.
