This is one of the reasons I actually purchased the MR. I had a gut feeling that when the IX came to the US market, it would come similarly equipped. It may not have special wheels, or the Bilstein setup, but I guess that's what I ended up paying extra for (as well as some other trim bits). What'll be interesting is if they do have the IX with a higher output than the VIII, is what the differences will be. It's almost trivial to coax another 70HP out of these cars, so I'm wondering if it'll be something simple.

With that said, bring on the X with the MIVEC mill in it!

Have to admit the VIII does look a bit meaner...the front end of the IX looks a little too much like my Mom's '01 Accord...Yikes!!!

As discussed in other threads, it looks like the IX will come with
a 4G63 MIVEC.

Now the X will have an entirely new (non-4G63) engine.

Every country that got the evolution before faces this. It's call the Evolution you know...not the...I don't know. Not the Mitsubishi Stays in One Place and Goes Extinct.

i just got back from japan and while i didn't see any IX's (hell,i didn't even see any Mitsu dealerships!!!) i did pick up a magazine that has a write up on the IX, as well as a comparison / battle between the IX, the Imprezza S203 (special WRX STI with 320hp), and the new Mazda6 car with AWD and turbo. they liked all three cars and said that each had their own personality. the IX won for all out performance, the S203 won for performance plus nice quality, and the Mazda won for daily car that can kick some butt when you need to.

i doubt the 4g63 is gonna have MIVEC... does anyone actually have solid proof of this? people just keep saying it but no one actually has any solid evidence about this. I'm sure the X will have MIVEC cause its a brand new car, plus with the change in the WRC rules 2.0L NA. VII, VIII, IX, pretty much all the same cars just different bodies.

interseting... hmm i guess its true then, well in anycase we VIII owners can just swap heads if your really interested in a MIVEC. But the evo IX looks... not aggressive enough, especially considering that we prob will never see that back bumper... nothing but big butts pass safety tests here.
