Evo 9 Bumper Discussion
Well, if y'all get the IX, have fun in your girly lookin sedans, faster than an 8 or not, still looks like a girly version of the 8, they took A LOT of the sporty looking edge out of the Evo, and just made it into one of those "almost" sporty lookin cars...like an STi

Rear Bumper
I think I will hijack my own thread......
Check out the close up of the rear bumper. If you look under the "Evolution" badge you will see the this bumper does not stick out far, also the licence plate area is not very tall. The US plate might not fit there easily.
Do you guys think we will get it (has to fit over the crash beam)?
It is interesting hear talk about this cars look. A lot of people talk about swapping bumpers. I think if it was cheaper, a lot of people would do it. I would love to install Evo 7 bumpers on my car, I love the Evo 7/8 JDM bumper, it is just not worth the money to me.
I kind of like the chin spoiler area of the 9 front. I think it is a little more agressive than the rounded one on the 8.

lets not judge the car is girly or not until you see it in person
i bet the car looks mean in person like the 6
The 6 looks mean in person? Yet again, news to me...however, I did say I changed my answers to that thing needs more paint, and then...well, then I'll give it a chance...I still think it's too toned down

The Gialla and Varis bumpers all have a similar design.
On the stock bumper, the ducts are "integrated" as part of the underside panel

I like the look of the IX more than the VIII, I never really liked the VIII. I like the back of the IX too, the diffuser bit looks ok to me. A lot of cars have something like that, also in black, including the previous 5 series BMW, and the Ferrari 360 and F430, and I thought they all looked ok.
Aston
I think the Evo 9 has a more agressive front than the 9. I am still debating the use of the holes...that sounds wrong.
The attached picture is a side by side comparison of the 8 and 9. The pictures are of the cars in similar situations, both making an agressive left turn, so the action is equal between the cars. The 8 is an MR, so the wheels are the same. I think when you look at the cars side by side, in the same situation, the style changes of the 9 stand out more.

The attached picture is a comparison of the JDM rear bumpers. Again, I used the Evo 8 MR, so the wheels are the same. Both pictures of the 8 and 9 are on a track making a slight left turn so the action is the same between the cars. When comparing the JDM bumpers (I say JDM for the 9, because we do not know if our US bumper will be the same), I am not sure which one I like better. I like the 9's diffuser look, but the black appearance makes the bumper look thin and a little high, if that makes sense.
evo 7-9 design critique
Here's my .2
These cars are not pretty like a well porportioned low slung sports car therefore my criteria is slightly different than for most cars. They are brutally effective all weather performance machines with direct WRC liniage.
The evo 7 is the closest to the WRC cars and most square mech. optimus prime looking of the bunch. with the most open front fascia of them all IMO this fits the cars personallity the best and it looks the business. Rear bumper is ho-hum has a ton of drag and doesn't really stand out. Hood is very cluttered, but is tolorated as it exactly like the WRC car and vents are funtional.
evo 8 Is (again IMO) Mitsu's attempt to "slick" it up for the US market. No doubt the cid. is better than the 7, but trying to "style" the front of the 8 is like decorating a tank, it's doen't have to be pretty and there's no justification for the pontiac like beak and sweepy contour on the side of the bumper. I dig the giant intercooler inlets.
Rear bumper is just ok. I like it better than the 7, but still has drag issues. my favorite hood of the bunch though, nice and clean but still bada$$.
evo 9 Front fascia is awfull. F, terrible. Hate the gialla style ovals- completely un justified. Love the back bumper, finally a real diffuser!
All 3 -The boxy fender flares sell these cars and will be missed on the 10. On my own EVO I would love to make a best of the series, e7 front bumper, e8 hood, e9 rear bumper!
