Something Quick I did to take out the holes. Its pretty uneven, but it gets the point accross.

I don't think the holes are for fog lamps, because the Evo already has foglights incorporated in the headlight housings.
I don't think the holes are for brake cooling, because they're far away from the brakes, the IC pipes are in the way, and the side openings in the front bumper are better positioned to cool the brakes.
I should've thought of this before... the holes are really there for weight reduction!

I have the Varis bumper and it hooks up to nowhere in particular :P but I was told I could use the ducting to direct cold air up to my cone filter or I could reuse it for the brake duct (there is already a path on the underside plastic covers on the Evo.

The Gialla one does in fact open into the airducts.

Look better without the holes, IMO. Are they even functional? Guess we'll find out soon enough.

Also, just so people know, in Europe and Japan the 7/8 share the same rear bumper. The US Evo got the fatass bumper cause of our bumper beams... so if we got a diffuser on our rear bumper, it would be unique to the US market Evo's.

Yes, the diffuser is very badass, but I wonder about it's compatibility with aftermarket exhausts...

UK rear bumper vs US rear bumper

I personally like the styling they used for the USDM 8 rear bumper.
If I was living in the U.K. still I think I would have to import that bumper and get rid of the U.K. style.

US style license plates should fit fine on the rear bumper. You can see how it would fit in the Panizzi video and in this picture of the Ralliart Evo IX:

I completely dig the bumpers on the IX.

IMO, they got rid of all the mismatched lines and contours… just cleaned everything up. No more happy smiley-face front end. The flares on the sideskirts actually line up with the bumpers. Looks damn sexy and very aggressive.

Now if they can just keep the blingy altezzas away…

I'll throw in my $0.02.

*Bumper holes - they've never put anything as blatant as a hole or vent on an Evo without it having a purpose. So long as they have a purpose, I can live with them.
* beak - thank god it's gone, one less Pontiac Sunfire aspect
*Smoothed Bumper edges - Kudos! I really don't like how they over-styled the VIII
*Rear Bumper Diffuser - Ugly? I think it looks cool, but get real who really cares it's a functional rear diffuser!!!!!

The ducting is for the oil cooler on the pass side if no one has replied. I am not going to read all the pages.

I love the new look both the front bumper and the rear one as well. It flows with the car so much better. I wish the 9 was coming out in 2 more years so I could buy it and still keep my 8

The front bumper just isn't much different from the VIII. It looks fine to me, holes and all. I really just don't think it's enough of a change to even matter. Just my .02
