Ugly triangle please goes away!
Ugly triangle please goes away!
I remember once upon a time Mitsu was making some nice looking cars, Eclips, Galant, Diamante all looks cool and I was a proud owner of 3000GT. Things start going down with the v6 Eclips and now they have to ruin every line of their cars with that thing even the perfect EVO7. I think long and hard about the MR but I still can’t stand the triangle. I hope the IX will have that thing removed then I will jump right into it.
I was wondering. It seems like it would be a fairly simple thing to do to have a body shop just chop it off and then cover it with new fiberglass and then get it painted. Not really a cheap mod for the results but it would definately be original. has anyone done this or have pics.
It’s not too hard to work on fiberglass. I did think about doing that myself as I used to make sculpture using plastic and fiberglass. You can get the fiberglass form any sculpture supply. If my EVO bug bits me harder I might just do that. For now I am just not that interested in doing mod other then performance.

What I am afraid is that once the IX lands here they will put that ugly triangle on for whatever reason. I see no reason they remove it if they try to make brand recognition with that triangle. Remember the spy shoot of VIII back in 2002? It doesn’t have that either. I was all excited until I saw it in the dealer…
The triangle is going away because Olivier Boulay, the designer who came up with it, is no longer with Mitsubishi. So the Evo IX will not have it, and therefore the easiest way to rid yourself of the triangle is to get a front bumper from an Evo IX. From the looks of things, the hood, fender, and lights are identical to the VIII.
I like the current EVO 8 better than the EVO 7. I personally like the triangle in the middle..... but I have heard of a few people using EVO 7 bumpers to get rid of the center triangle

I didn't like the triangle the first time I saw the car at the 2003 Chicago Autoshow. I thought it made the car look plastic and cheap. Funny now that I own one, it has grown on me.
