MIVEC and cams?
mivec is not centripedal.
it is activated by PWM actuator on a PID algorithm controlled by the ECU. it fuctions the same as ivtec. i seen the picture of the Mivec actuator, and i have significant experience working & tuning ivtec engines and have held the ivtec actuator in my hands. Its the same thing.
MoTeC has just come up with a PnP ECU for the EVO IX to control Mivec.

Oh, and the whole engine vs. motor thing to me is ghey. Motor as in motor car, as in Mitsubishi Motors of North America, or General Motors. Maybe you guys should demand they change their name to be correct. General Engines, then maybe General Electric could be the new GM so we won't get confused.

Isnt the evo X going to feature a mivec type engine? albeit maybe a new one?.. this being the case, I really wouldnt flip out.. I see the evo IX as a test mule for many of the new features that will be f ound on the X.. like the new IX turbo setup, imho will be found in the X, so i really wouldnt be concerned about a lack of parts for the car.. really now, the car has only been out two weeks? and people are already talking about ripping up the motor?.. a few K on the odometer to make sure everything else is in check first.. im sure you could make great power have the car dyno tuned with SAFCII.. or the V AFC (if thats what you need to control the cam timing). Im just making a wild guess that all evos in the future will feature mivec.

As for the topic. I'm curious to see if that cam is going to be a standard profile cam or if has a different cut designed to optimize the MIVEC. I'm inclined to believe the later of the two.
I think that some more people on this board better read up a bit more.

There is a brief explanation on the MIVEC system.
--And by the way the intake cams are completely different.
--You can't just swap heads..
--The rumors of HKS having cams are false. They along with Jun are trying to develop them now. Along with many companys. They will all come out at the same time it looks like. BUT there may be some out on the market a little sooner..... well let everyone know!

Thats why MoTec is the best EMS money can buy.
