A huge part of what makes the evo handle so well is it's traction, if you take away front wheel traction then whats left is over steer (thanks to its 60/40 weight distribution + 286hp). The only thing its good for is drifting

Drifting, which is what F&F3 is all about.

IMO it would be fun to get rid of the front wheel drive sometimes and let the car rotate more on the street. It will be a hot mod in a year or two once the acd computer gets hacked and on the market....especially on some high power street/drag cars. Alot of areas in the US dont even have curvy roads and Evo owners just want a drag alternative and a way to flick the car around a little easier with the gas pedal... not the steering wheel. Its a mod that IS coming for all of us so it will be discussed alot more in the future. Alot of haters on it and alot of people that will love it.. Another great reason to own this car.....versatility.

thanks to all who replied to my post
again sorry if it was a repost. my bad im a newbie.

and to those who are pissed to an idea of a rwd.... sorry if i offend you
i both like rwd and awd cars... i just want the option, thats all
and it would be nice to be able to switch from rwd to awd

if you guys you dont like the idea of a rwd evo then thats your opinion

plus the only reason i like the idea for a rwd evo for is drifting and for that application only

thanks to threepointsix, ErroR and the rest who replied

It would be neat if, and only if you could change from awd to rwd when you wanted to. But if i had to have one over the other, awd is best... I say if you want rwd then go buy a mustang or corvette or something, not an evo

Converting an evo is very possible, but not reccomended. the rear driveshafts are not designed for having all the power go through them. several wrx owners have snapped stock shafts w/ a rwd conversion, they ended up buying different shafts. also the rear diff will be very vulnerable, and not to mention the fact that evo's have a horizontally opposed engine as opposed to a wrx.
as for drifting, movies making magic aside, evo's have a very poor turn in angle(how far the steering wheel can turn), so drifting one on tarmac would not be spectacular. drifting should be left to dedicated rwd vehicles. but if it's your car, do whatever the hell you lke w/ it.

yeah, and besides all the screwyness of making it be RWD, it looks damn cool. i saw the orange JDM STi drift at SEMA and it just amazes me. it would be weird to see an Evo do that, but it'd be cool.

For 10 minutes, then I'm sure the owner would regret all the money he wasted.

There was some company that was modifying differentials that turns the WRX into RWD. Not sure how well the tranny would hold up though.
