Isn't the R34 Skyline capable of doing this?
How hott would it be to launch at awd then change over to RWD? I love RWD but AWD is just more practical, I'd rather sacrifice the handling with the traction, it's much more forgiving.
the skyline engine is a more capable engine imo, but the evo engine does a spectacular job of producing large amounts of power with only 4 cyl.
But for wrx's, I know of one sti in the Japanese drift circut, and one thats going to be in next years American drift tour
I believe the American drift car is by Kingpin, and the sti drift car in japan is part of team orange.

Never seen it before. Did read about an STI converted to rear wheel drive for drifting, in Super Street. Was wondering when someone would get around to making an Evo RWD. I like have the AWD though.
I agree with the rwd setup adding more versatility to the evo. And RWD cars are fun as hell. But why the hell would I buy a 30,000 dollar awd car, hack the hell out of it make it rwd and drift it into walls. Why not just save 3 - 5 grand and buy a 240 sx. Arent those made for that? RWD is fun, drifting is fun. Apex turns at super high speeds is what the evo is made for. Super traction. I dunno, just my opinion. i know i bough my evo for that reason. And actually want a 240 for drifting purposes.
word AWD owns. but then again it'd be cool for like 10 minutes like someone mentioned.
still i wouldnt do it.
but in case yall didn't know, i'm speaking to those that are interested into doing the RWD setup.
Rhys Millen Racing (RMR) aftering doing tokyodrift.. is selling those kits to convert any EVO to rear-drive...for whatever reason. and converting it back should be simple too.
pretty easy if not simple..crack the trasnfer case open and the LSD output assembly is replaced with a new one that RMR fabricates out of billet steel that omits the splines to drive the front wheels. Caps now covers up the useless output holes in the transfer case and a dual-plate clutch replaces the stock unit. The front axle stub ends are retained to act as bolts for holding together the hub assemblies.
so you could even buy two kits and convert your EVO to no-wheel drive....but please dont.
also know this, you're gonna lose straight-line performance for sure.

I thought it was as simple as disconnecting the front drivetrain differential? I was hoping that it was electronic which means that we could have an in cockpit switch to switch between activating and deactivating it which means awd and rwd on demand. Serious kick-assness if this can be done!
