Active-Aero System: On Future Evos?

Do any of you guys think that Mitsubshi would bring back this technology on future Evos? I believe it was last used in the 3000GT VR-4.

This is a system that controls the front air dam and rear spoiler to modify the airflow around the vehicle at various speeds. Like when the 3000GT VR-4 would reach 50 mph, the electronically controlled rear spoiler would raise approximately 15 degrees while the front spoiler lowers 2 degrees. This I believe would reduce front and rear body lift for improved stability at highway speeds. The front air dam and rear spoiler ten would return back to their previous positions when the vehicle's speed drops below 31 mph.

Now we see that the 3000GT had advanced technology of its day, that's why it outsold the Supra and the 300ZX altogether. In my opinion, Mitsubishi is behind in technology in the U.S. market because they don't even offer a navigation system (except for the upcoming Galant Ralliart), bluetooth capability, sattelite radio, and other gizmos. Sure they offer goodies such as the Active Trac 4WD System and MIVEC but in terms of sales, they suck.

Only the Evo and the Montero are probably the only promising vehicles on their lineup because the Evo as we know it has telepathic steering and rapid accelaration while the Montero is very capable off-road.

Mitsubishi should at least try to learn from Toyota and try to bring some of their technology from Japan to MMNA. I looked at the Japanese website and I saw many cars with navigation and remote engine starters, but why not here?

The JDM Supra TT has an active aero also - a movable front spoiler. It would move downwards at speed or by switch.
To my knowledge, nobody in the states has retrofitted one of these.

Why would you want that when you could do the same with active suspension and not have to worry about the potential cost of curb damage to something that can't be cheap?

I mean active suspension could do so much more in the way of aero. You can lower the car at speed which drops front splitter height along with roof height and you can control the attitude of the car by making rear ride height just a bit higher or lower. Plus you can now control the dampening to match speed and cornering force.

Active aero sounds cool but I don't think it's all that neccessary with the exception of the rear wing as seen on porsche's and TT's.

The real question is: How do you maintain a proper alignment on a suspension that constantly changes ride height?

Why would ride height change alignment?
Land Rovers and Porsche Cayenne's have active suspension
I believe the Cayenne's have 6.18 to 10.75 inch variance in ride height depending on your speed.

To bring those technology to North America means highers sticker prices on those cars. Thats why they slowly took out those technology from the later models of 3000GT. Plus most people don't appreciate or understand those technology. They just like the look of the 3000GT / Dodge Stealth.

The 3000GT also has active suspension. You can adjust the firmness of the suspension with the push of a button.

Active aero = gimmicky. Too many gimmicky bits is why the 3000GT VR4 weighed 3 zillion pounds.
