Ok so I have an 06 evo and my two roomates want to buy used evo MRs one each so that would equal 3 evos in my drive way. They both argue that the EVO was first made for Model year 2004 and I argue that in fact it was not made until model year 2005.

Can someone clarify this for them as they will read this.

 

2005 was the first year for the MR. i know cause i waited a few months to get one. there were 1000 released in the US and graphite grey was an MR-only color until the IX, then you could get a graphite grey GSR. also, the IX MR was produced in larger numbers and wasn't as limited.

 

Thank you, my roomie argues that they were manufactured in 04(which is true) but the argument is that they were introduced as a 2005 model.

 

Wrong forum - and Google, could have answered this...

2003 was the first US Evo (VIII). 2004 the first RS VIII came out. 2005 was when the MR came out and ACD for all models, as well as model changes (SSL and whatnot...). 2006 is when the IX came out. There will be no 2007 Evos.

I think that sums it all up.

well, of course. anyone should know that current car models are made the year before since you can usually purchase them 3 months before the model year. who would argue that?

I believe mine was purchased during October/November of 04. However, it is an 05 model.
