Is there going to be a 07 MR IX EVO ?????
I thought the lack of self leveling headlights and maybe side airbags would keep Japan from getting a 2007 CT9A Evo too, but I dunno:

no 07 MR...its just considered the 2006 Lancer Evolution IX SE...the SE is considered a revised edition but it is still an 06'. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the reason for not having an 07' model is because all cars in production by 2007 must have side airbags. Mitsubishi did not want to invest extra money into this mandatory safety feature by September since the 08' model Lancer has just made its debut. Im assuming the Evolution X is next.
Very incorrect. Japan does have the 2007 IX. It has been tested by a number web and print organizations. The reason it cannot be sold in the US is because the US puts limits on how long you can sell a previous model year car into the new year, and all cars designated as 2007 or newer in the US HAVE to have side impact air bags. Since the Evo IX does not have them, it canot be sold in the US as a 2007 model. Mitsu will sell as many 2006 IXs as they legally can, I would assume.

According to Mitsubishi's definition of the Evo IX MR SE, I've had one for a while. The bbs blah blah blah makes it an MR.. so what's so special? the red trim? I have that too. And i bought mine back in September. I'm pretty sure the side airbags are the issue and the USDM isn't going to bother releasing any 'NEW' evo's till the Concept-X which may or may not flop on it's face with Evo enthusiasts. Ironically, especially so in Japan.

My friend in Japan says that the last of the Evo IXs in Japan sold out at dealerships already.
There is no '07 Evo in Japan. Check out the JP home page:
