Taumax...what is the source of that information? Can you back up that statement or are you just quoting something you heard from someone who knows the brother of someone who's a janitor at

?
I talked to the Mitsubishi rep at the car show.

DSG is banned in F1.
Besides, "seamless" single clutch transmissions are better.

wow... that sucks... i was just listing the big concerns for the TRUE evo enthusiast before, but i didn't know if a should believe you. I really wanted a DSG/F1 type system...I had to watch that lancerproject video over again, but it looks like the DSG claims are a little overstated! Looks like it will be closer to CVT

I've owned a DSG car and it was my favorite part of the whole car. My opinion is that other than high-powered luxo-barges (read: Buick to Mercedes), DSG is an obvious replacement for an automatic.
Single-clutch automated manuals have been panned by reviewers in everything from a Smart to an Aston Martin to a Ferrari.
"The thing is it's a gearbox. OK, it has one job to do, one job. Pull the lever: 'Am I a pencil? Am I a cauliflower? Am I a nuclear power sta-I'm a gearbox! Oh, heavens I'll swap some cogs around!" -Jeremy Clarkson describing the Smart transmission. (see a similar quote in the last 30 sec of the linked video.)
DSG IS an obvious replacement for an automatic. Of course there is no automatic to replace on an Evo. <--- me being Captain Obvious
Before the OCD people correct me, I should quickly clarify that there is no automatic to replace on an Evo in the US.

I wouldn't say that nobody cares about F1.
But if seamless gearboxes can be used on engines with higher torque and horsepower ratings, I don't see why they couldn't be used in WRC. In fact, I bet that WRC cars will eventually use these types of gearboxes.
AFAIK, I don't think any WRC cars use DSG. If you know of any, please post a link.
Yes, DSG is an obvious replacement for automatics, but seamless gearboxes are more efficient, cost less, and offer better performance. See my posting for Zeroshift.
The single clutch automated manuals are not what I'm referring to. They still use standard synchros and the clutch has to be disengaged during a shift.
The seamless AMT I'm talking about allow you to shift with about disengaging the clutch with a minimal loss in vehicle acceleration. Even less loss in acceleration that a DSG transmission. This is the gearbox that F1 cars are switching to.

i dont see why people making all these speculations of the aluminum block not being able to hold additional boost, when Mitsubishi clearly stated that it will be capable of handling large amounts of boost. i mean, look at the SR20, its an aluminum block isnt it? i believe it is also a bulletproof engine. hence, this new 4B11T could have some potential or even more than the 4G63. then i again, i could be wrong, but nonetheless, we all need to stop all this speculation and wait till we see the real deal.
also dont forget, it took quite awhile to perfect the 4G63. i think you guys should have faith in this new motor, its only a matter of time when we truly see the capabilities of the 4B11T.
