I believe what you are referring to is Nissan's CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) which is now available in the Maxima. In this application, there are no gears per say, rather just a range of possible ratios. So, in essence, the engine just assists the car in accelerating at one of many different ratios to provide the best acceleration, fuel economy, emissions etc..... A similar system is used on the new Prius.

No zeroshift,no CVT,no automatic.

The new Evo X will have a DSG-type twin clutch transmission. The engineers told the editors of at least 3 different mags. Zero-lag shifting up and down they promised.

if this is true, the only other worry is if it'll last long or hold upgraded power

i think the best bet for anybody that wants to tune their cars is just get the regular manual gearbox.

I found this very interesting and encouraging. If Mitsu is going with a DSG-like dual- clutch transmission, it looks like it can handle HP. This TT has a 400hp DSG!!
I don't know if this trans is 100% stock, but they don't mention any trans mods.
