It's Official: 2006 Last 4G63, New Evo X Engine: 4B11T

Go check out a Evo SE brochure at your local dealership. It says at the end of the paragraph on the left side:

"Now, as the idol and its believers race into a 10th generation, a new SE Package for the Lancer Evolution IX celebrates every clipped apex, every grazed redline, every hoisted trophy. The final 4G63 takes a victory lap."

Then look over at the far right side, there's a small picture of the Evo X concept. In a more faint and easily overlooked font color, it says 4B11.

Googling "Mitsubishi 4B11", you get to this page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_GEMA_engines

Scroll down to the 4B11 and you'll find the 4B11T which they claim on the 2008 Evo X. The fact that it's in a Mitsubishi brochure now, confirms it.

Not sure how I feel right now. Worried, maybe.

Anyways, I love the 4g63 but it's what Evolution means changing, it's time to move on.

A while. The reason Evo stuff came out quick, there was a lot of stuff already out in Japan and it was very easy to adapt DSM stuff to the Evo.

This could change everything.

Kinda weird that the lancer gets a 4B11, seems like the only thing separating the lancer and evo will be the turbo and AWD system.

Let's pray it doesn't break all the time, and can take punishment like the "Hell for Stout" 4G63.

A moment of silence . . . .

Correct and yet another thing that makes me worry.

I like how the Evo is unlike anything else. The 4B11 will be used in some Chrysler and Hyundai products. How would it be having a Tiburon driver come up to you in your Evo X and say "Hey, I just bought a turbo and now I'm just like an Evo!!"

See that is the reason IX cams are so important, the mivec part should pretty easy once the IX ones are done. Then the whole mivec thing on the X shouldn't be a total alien concept like on the IX and hopefully only take a few months as opposed to a year.
