Out with the old, in with the new.

The 4G63T in my opinion and I doubt I am a lone in this thinking should go down in history as one of the most remarkable engines of all time. I know there are engines out there capable of more power, but I assure you all these engines are bigger and in most cases MUCH bigger than the 4G63T that has been so capable in the EVO and DSM platforms. The 4G63T is not only capable of producing power levels on par with big V8s, V10s, and V12s, but what many love about the engine is the relative inexpense and ease it is to extract this power. My question is about this new engine, this 4B11T, do you think this car will come anywhere near the potential, the inexpense, and ease of extracting power as the 4G63T? I know the 4G63T is a very hard act to follow, but I wonder if the days of street driven 800whp to 1000whp EVOs will be gone with out the 4G63T? Just wanted some of your thoughts on this.

Who knows?

It'll be interesting to see if Mitsubishi keeps the car as "mod-friendly" as it was and with technology the way it is today I say it could be a very good engine. In another thread on here somebody compared it to the domestics going away from their old setups to the new aluminum engines. Could be the same way with the EVO. Won't find out for sure though until it comes out and some mad tuners start ripping them apart!

....lets hope Mitsu does not go the way of the new STI.......the STI was not that mod friendly to begin with......from what I have seen, it will be even more difficult on the new one.

the 4B11T has the turbo between the motor and firewall.....should make for some intetesting intercoolor hookups!

Either way.....I am sure the EVO X will be another great machine from Mitsu!

The Evo is getting an Aluminum block. The 4B11 is an AL block only. You can't just pour a different metal into the same mold.

Nissan's SR20DET and FJ20 engines are right there or possibly stronger than the 4G63T engine.

I have personally seen some cars with FJ20 motors in them running in the low 8's in Australia.

Yah the 4B11 aluminum block will suck hardcore compared to the 4g63. I mean, I would place it with sucky engines like LS1, LS7, FJ20, SR20det (all models), oh, the lamborghini murcielago LP640 has a all aluminum v12, the pos Ferrari Enzo i mean **** these car must be hella sorry compared to evo 8/9 cuz of the mighty iron block.
This morning when I woke up, I told my mom when I grow up i want to be a 4g63t.

*warning off topic*

That's why I said in my opinion, and with that said, I beg to differ. Last time I checked the stock block record for a SR20DET was 601.1whp/452.9wtq, just to let you know an EVO IX put down 669.4whp/468.8wtq on the stock block and that's not the only 4G63 to pass the 600whp mark on the stock block. As far as the FJ20, please share links to all the low 8 second FJ20 I would love to see them, and I can pretty much guarrantee in the next couple of years you will see a lot more EVOs running low 8s and 7s and last time I checked there were multiple DSMs running 7s and one that runs 6s. Plus the 4G63T is a more reliable engine and makes power more easily. Plus this thread isn't even about which engine is the best, so stay on topic or don't post. So if you would like to argue this further, start your own thread and I'll gladly continue this debate.
