New spy shots of the 2009 Lancer Evolution...umm...Ralliart?
I haven't posted here in a long time but this a topic that interests me. I had an '04 Lancer ES which I traded in for a '06 Impreza 2.5i. Then 2008 rolls around and suddenly it's the Lancer line that looks hot and the Impreza looks like ****.
Yesterday I test drove a GTS and tried getting some pricing information. I asked a couple of the dealership employees about this new Ralliart and they had no clue what I was talking about. I shouldn't really be surprised by that, since most car dealers only know whatever the company sends in brochures. The girl that went with me for the test drive owns an Evo, so I would assume that she might actually know something about the cars she sells and didn't know about it.
So far as a know, this would be Mitsu's way of competing with Subaru's WRX and getting the customers that want turbo and AWD but can't afford a STI or Evo. As much as I like the new styling of the Lancer, it would have to take the Ralliart/GSX to get me to switch back. At least with my 2.5i I get 173hp/2.5-liters/AWD vs the Lancer's 152hp/2.0-liter/FWD.

The new Ralliart has a chance of being 4WD. In a recent japanese publication dedicated to the Galant Fortis, they showed a 4WD version of the Galant Fortis Super Exceed and indeed it is mated to the 4B11 in the USDM Lancers. If it is indeed possible, the Ralliart could use the same drivetrain modified to more power of course.
