Depends on how you define Evo X power, to me FWD vs. AWD is already game over.

Read my reply again, im not talking about drivetrain wise, I was talking about (power) engine wise.

I understood your perspective the first time, that's why I said it depends on how you define it.
So read my reply now and infer that X engine-power won't be getting to the ground without the X drivetrain - comparably. Hope that makes sense.

im sure it wouldnt be hard to get the lancer to stock power levels of the evo x.... pretty costly, but not hard.... ive known alot of people who turbo their high compression motors with great results, and with low boost, making nice amounts of power..... but i think it will be tapped out around the stock levels of the evo....and not the most reliable.... id say for anyone wanting to turbo heir lancers to at least swap out the pistons for lower compression ones.... then the power potential should be greater than a stock evo....

but i agree that the awd vs. fwd needs to stick in lancer owners heads.... just beacuse you have the power of an evo, doesnt mean your quicker than an evo

All true, but that's assuming the Ralliart will be fwd. Everything I've read is that it'll be awd too.

see... this is what's heard but i have to be skeptical. the evo is a world brand, ever continent that has mitsubishis knows that the evo is special. not everyone knows that ralliart is (particularly in america) ralliart is this lame things with oz wheels back in the day. do they want to revamp that image? maybe... are they going to start with a baby evo?...... they can't even bring the gsx back for ****s and giggles... what makes anyone think they'll do it for the lancer?

i would see it as them putting it out there so people who want a manual transmission can still have one... but even then, that's closer to an evo than a lancer. do they want to bridge that gap and make their high end customers feel contaminated????

It's going to be AWD. It's going to be TURBO. Right now there's a niche in the market that only the WRX is filling (mid 20s, turbo/awd). They'd be stupid not to bring something in to compete with the WRX. Someone finally figured out at Mitsubishi to not be stupid.

SRT4 is no longer made. The new Caliber version...maybe. But FWD. Mazda 3(maybe even MS3), FWD again, no go. People have found out the advantages of AWD. And the WRX is the only solution in that category. Just as the evo is competition for the STI, the RA will no doubt be Mitsu's runner against the new WRX (which really...no one should want anyways). Go

mazda has an awd version... appears to be unpopular enough that you don't know about it...

benefits to awd? like what?

people that want awd to go to the snow already have a subaru. people that want to go drag racing on the street have hardly the ferver to hold out for an awd machine when they can have something else that is turbo charged.

They want 26k for a base Mazdaspeed6, and it not in the same market as the WRX. It was marketed to an older crowd and they couldn't GIVE the last 06's away. They were offering 5K in factory incentives and special finance rates. It's heavier than the Evo and has DBW and clutch pedal problems. It's being discontinued...

The only thing that is turbo/awd in the lower mid 20s is the WRX. The RA/GSX will compete with it, and if its sharing a platform w/ the EVO, it will win.
