I am obviously new to the forum as well as the car itself...I don't base my opinion because I am hardcore eVo owner...Before purchasing my IX I have considered STi's and even the new model eVo X...and I must say that it does not appeal to me at all...To me it seems like both Subaru and Mitsu "sold out" in terms of design of the car so that it appeals more to people rather than just to the enthusiasts...which to me is a mistake...why would I want to see a car that appeals more the general public and women? I see why the both of the companies did it...they are hurting for sales...that's all...Personally I would rather get a thumbs up from a guy that knows something about cars...then to have a girl say that I have a cute car...The resemblence between the X and the lancer is a lot closer then the current lancer to the current eVo...Just because a car is a new model does not mean it is better...I don't get how some people who say us haters hate it because we got the 8/9...even if the 10 was out right now...I would still pick up a 9...in fact I had to fly 3 states away to pick my 9 up...why? I guess I like the SSL package and the color combo...lol...

this is clearly the new evo, look at the seats, rims, rear spoiler, rear bumper, front fenders, etc and compare to brochure

please explain to me how the Evo X is designed for the general populace and women??? is it the wing? the forged BBS wheels? the fender flares? the hood vents and scoop? the 300hp turbo motor? the twin exhaust? perhaps the brembo brakes and recaro sport seats? or is it the S-AWC that grandma might use on the way to pick up the grandkids?

obviously the new WRX is designed to be softer, but the evo??? quite a stretch....

it's one thing for people to say they personally like the styling of the 8/9 better. it's another thing when people use the looks of the X to somehow deny the FACT that the X will be better stock in EVERY way than the 8/9. it's faster, safer, more luxurious, and we finally get AYC. about the only thing you can "fault" is tuning potential. BUT, BUT at this point it's all theoretical. AND the damn car wasn't built to be tuned so why fault them for that at all? and of course anything short of stripping the damn car and welding the chassis, the X will always hold the edge over the 8/9 because it's built on a WAY stiffer chassis. basically, it's BETTER!

and for the last time, if people are gonna waste all this money making a 600hp evo why are they crying over resleeving the damn open deck block? at least for honda engines it's like $1100-$1300 and you have to rip the engine open to install pistons, cranks and all this other crap anyway. so why all this crying? if you wanna go fast, you gonna hafta pay.

Hey I call it as I see it...I am not a hardcore eVo owner like most of you here...but I do admit my iX is growing on me more and more...the little ****er is kinda quick...the eVo X is going to appeal more to the genaral population...period...you think its a coincidence that the eVo X and the lancer closely resemble each other as oppose to the 8/9 eVo's to that year lancers...??? And why is Subie all of a sudden toning down on the looks of the car...so that it attracts women drivers as well as middle aged demographics...as for the X...think man...prior to this point...all eVo's were manual...now you get an option...that's more ways to make the car more marketable...and sellable...LOL...yeah you're right the wing is smaller...but the body is also not as boxy too...sure it has a more powerful powerplant...but the looks of the car just don't do it for me...Again I don't wanna drive a car that every as$hole is gonna have on the streets...and its seems like all that it matters is sales sales and more sales...its a business afterall...Some cars all you have to do is look at once and you will fall in love with them...the X unfortunately does not do it for me...I am sure others feel the same way...stock...yeah its going to be better...not even gonna argue that one...but in all honesty I could care less...Just because the car is a newer model does not mean its a better car...certain years remain more desirable than others...and IMO iX takes the cake...I guess in time all of us will find out the tunability of the new motor...but for the rest of us its nice to know we can own a X with minimal mods to the iX...

Maybe, maybe not. I do like the X, but forward progression does not always equate to better performance. The Evo VI will run laps around an Evo VII, VIII and, IX.

I think the X looks decent though. I own an VIII and did not like it when I initially saw the pics on the web. When I saw it in person, I was sold.

i think it may be a pre production test mule of the new lancer between the Evo and the base lancer GTS - I just read the latest SCC and they said that Mitsu is aiming to gain some of the Impreza market with a detuned Evo X, so it'll have the FWD from the base lancer and the 2.0 4B11 of the Evo X. . .
