Road and Track test the Evo X
I want to know which is correct - the text in the article stating the weight is 300lbs heavier, whereas the curb weight in the stat sheet is <100lbs heavier. Based on what i've previously read, and seeing more errors in stat sheets than written text, i'd bet the weight gain is closer to 300
which explains the 100MPH!!! trap speed

there's no doubt it would and should be faster overall on a track, i don't think that's ever really been an issue. how could they spend so much time developing the car just to say 'sorry guys, it's a bit slower than the old one.' it's just the character of the car is different; it's a different machine now.
i'm glad the new car is faster around the track. and vigo, about your old geezer comments... i mean, i usually trust road and track when it comes to their abilities to drive so i dunno, they put down solid times for the evos of old haven't they?

I,m sure those times are not close to what the X will run when released.BMW claimed 0-60 in 5.3 for the 335i. Just about everyone tested, with the AT and the 6 MT ran 4.7- 4.8 to 60. I,d bet the X will be around the same, if not quicker.
i remember when evo viii came out...R&T or one of the car magazines tested evo 0-60 5.3 and 1/4 in the high 13s also...just wait til it comes out and have more capable driver get at it and we will know if it is indeed better
Wasn't the SST in full auto mode? In which case I'd wait until test drives of the mature production vehicles are out.
I'm sure this is a sub 5 second - mid 4 second car once everything is said & done. Guess it should go without saying that anyone wanting this car is just looking for a cruiser with great speed on demand. Besides if anyone wanted a raw Evo who said that the IX & VIII's are the best way to go since that best describes what the VI was all about?

which track did they use? I wish they tested it vs the IXMR as it is faster than the regular IX. no wonder they tested it against the US spec evo as the jap or uk version will blow it away. impressive numbers nonetheless. can't wait to drive the X
I'm almost positive that it's just as fast in a straight line as the Evo IX. The Evo X is only 82 pounds heavier and it has a bit more power and torque. As for cornering ability it's superior to the IX. Stupid old people that don't know how to drive ruined the test results.
REMEMBER THESE ARE JDM SPEC EVO X's SO THEY DON'T HAVE THE 5 MPH BUMPERS AND EMISSIONS EQUIP, THAT THE REAL U.S. SPEC WOULD HAVE. SO THE WEIGHT IS GOING TO BE MORE!!!!

there isn't going to be a US specific evo X as the article specified since we are getting the AYC, ACD, TS/SST, etc. It will be a "world" evo not the extremely fast UK or Japan Spec evo anymore. This is therefore a downgrade in terms of speed as it is competing with the US version evo only.
