^^^ There's a huge demand for old cars from brands that no longer exist or ceased sales in this country. Or for which parts are no longer made by an OEM.

And yes, in fact, I would buy an MR2. I own two of them

Also.. back on the Galant/Eclipse/Endeavor bit.. From seeing these cars every day at work, I can confirm that there's quite a bit more than casual similarities between them.

regardless of the fact that they are going bankrupt, we'll still have a abundance in parts and services for our beloved evo's.

What on earth makes you think Mitsubishi is going bankrupt?

I agree though.. there will be tons of EVO parts around for a long time.. In a couple years we'll have tons of trashed cars that are prime for parting out. EVO owners aren't particularly nice or caring about their cars for the most part..

S6devil has been right all along, good job for telling it like it REALLY is. I never like to get into these debates but mitsubishi has been producing these less than satisfactory cars (IN MY OWN OPINION) lately and giving less than adequate service to there well paying customers, that's not how any business should be ran. I love my evo through all the t-case whining, grinding and rock chips you could imagine because it makes me happy to smoke a Porshe Carerra and many cars alike of that legendary caliber, but the evo is the only Mitsubishi I personally would ever buy!

S6devil is telling his opinion only. The 'less than satisfactory cars' they produce rank top 10 (#9) in the industry for reliablity according to consumer reports ahead of Mazda, Nissan, and all the German brands with and one of the few manufacturers who don't have a single car ranked in the below average/poor category. You Americans simply have a bad perception of Mitsubishi that's all. There's nothing wrong with their offerings as they actually do well in other parts of the world including Canada where Mitsubishi is doing quite well compared to other brands. I can't comment on all the poor service or why Americans perceive them as substandard as I'm on the outside looking in but the fact of the matter is that you have a better chance of buying an unreliable vehicle from 2/3's of auto manufacturers.

Dealers of all manufacturers are shutting down all over North America. This isn't isolated to only a handfull of manufacturers.

They have an excellent market in most of Asia and Russia too. However, they are just aren't that well placed market-wise in the US. Be it number of dealerships, quality of service, value for money etc. they lag behind almost all Japanese and European makers in that regard in the US.

Believe it or not, Asia and Russia have a very big car market. In fact, Mitsubishi is considered a premium brand in many countries. You'd be amazed how well they equip the Pajero for international markets.

As for comparisons, I guess your statement speaks for itself about your knowledge of anything outside the US. I don't blame you, most new yorkers would be lucky to know anything outside NYC anyway.

If you do want brands, Mitsubishi competes with Hondas, Toyotas, Hyundai, Skoda, Pugeot, Fiat, Suzuki, Volkswagen amongst a myriad of other brands indigenous to the countries there.

For example, India has its own brands like TATA (now owner of Jaguar/Rover), Maruti. China has its own brands.

although normally this is where i would rip u a new one for you prolly being from some bumble-squat, and still messing with NYC, u r in luck, cause i just happen to agree with you all about New Yorkers being like you said.... yes NY is a world of its own, and its residents are usually in la-la land...
however, that being said, Im actually originally from Russia, and currently do business with several Russian agencies/firms, in regard to car sales, and antiques dealers... also, FYI, 3 years ago, i went back there, and worked over the summer as a liaison/agent with a high-end car dealership... so, I happen to know, just a little little bit about cars in Russia, especially Moscow, u know, where every other car is a Bentley these days....

my comment about Mitsu in Russia was kinda a joke, cause u know what kind of cars USSR always had......

I've seen no less than two EVO 8/9s in the last week at work that looked like their owners did exactly that with them. Front ends were totally hammered. Dented downpipes and everything! One of them was missing a bumper.
