Peugeot/Citroen and Mitsubishi

Wanted to share this link about Peugeot/Citroen and Mitsubishi:
http://www.businessweek.com/globalbi...123_031829.htm

Maybe with this partnership, Mitsubishi can finally get back to WRC.

Missing Tommi Makinen. He's the reason I started liking the Evo's and WRC. What happened to Mitsubishi?!

tommi makinen jumped shipped from mitsubishi after they named the evo 6.5 under his name. he now operates a tuning shop that modifies subaru's.

Loeb already drives a Evo IX for the reccies, when they pre drive the courses to make notes
It would be awesome if this partnership woulrd mean that Mitsu would return to the big stage, however...

Also Makinen left because once Mitsu was forced to build a car to WRC spec, and came out with the EVO VII WRC car, it was having trouble being competitive, and he was at a point in his career where he wanted to try something else, so he jumped ship to Subaru.

I would absolutely love to see mitsu back in WRC, but the way they are going (bigger & bigger) I don't see that happening, even with a Peugeot partnership.

i would rather them NOT go into WRC and use the money to make better cars. the galant and eclipse hasnt been relevant in YEARS... and even the new lancer is under supported IMO. people buy civics like crazy but if you look at it a lancer is actually a better value. Heck the Kia Forte Koup looks like an amazing value and it has funny commercials. Why hasnt mitsu marketed the car better?

They should definitely do those, really if you build a good car and don't market it well it isn't going to sell, its all about the packaging when someone first sees a car or any product. I don't think they should re-enter WRC either unless PSA puts in a lot of help but otherwise they should focus on reinforcing the Mitsubishi brand.

from a marketing standpoint, it'd definitely strengthen Mitsu's stance. it's a shame what an ailing world economy does.

any wrc implications would just sweeten the deal.

I believe the whole acquisition/merger was due to Peugeot wanting a presence in the U.S market, and not the racign thing. Peugeot is a very strong appearance in the racing with their own line-up, so I dont think acquiring Mitsu would make a huge difference. My younger brother is a huge Peugeot fan, and has told me that they have also show a lot of interest in Mitsu's hybrid technology. I think it's simply a good move for them as Mitsubishi has finally gain some strength in the U.S market in the last few years.

I don't know about you, but i see way more 4g eclipses running around than the newer lancers and i see WAY to many 3g eclipses. Having few mitsu dealers in an area doesn't help things either. But yes, people really do overlook mitsubishi alot.
