Actually Mitsu already thought and considered this back in 2005 when they were thinking about creating the MIEV Evo IX, so if the demand does grow in the electric field, there's a good probability the MIEV Evo will see the light of day.

When you compare the MIEV to that of the original evo the differnce isn't too much:
Evo IX
Power Output: 289 bhp
0-100: 12.7
Evo IX MIEV
Power Output: 268
0-100: 7.4

The X will be here for 2 years then will see on the next one. They will keep the body mostly the same and change a few power, interior and exterior looks between the X and the XI... Thats what they always do
