Hopefully this comment from Autoblog post holds it's weight:

"This report of the Evo's death would seem to stand in contrast to multiple reports that an Evo XI is in the works with a hybrid drivetrain. We're taking this latest Autocar missive with a few grains of salt, as we can see how Eusegi may have simply meant that an Evo that relies exclusively on internal combustion is dead – a hybrid Evo would seem to offer a nice technological bridge to Mitsubishi's more electrically minded future."

Frankly, an AC induction brushless powered Evo XI sounds quite intriguing. I know it's not the same, but I race r/c cars and the electric technology has eclipsed the nitromethane gas engines by leaps. But, you still have to charge batteries with electricity made from....

that also seems to point towards that R&T article about a "Performance GT" car to replace the rally-bred-hardcore Evo... and if I remember correctly, R&T mentioned in that report how Mitsu is thinking of another name for the new "Performance GT" car...

In either case, the Evo still remains dead :-(

i agree as all of you that this is a sad day...

i work in the auto industry and one of the local shops had a prius in there and it needed battery replacing. it had to be towed to toyota because they did not have the tooling to do it, customer oviously not happy....

also in one of the industry insider magazines in which we get also mentioned in there that to make a prius takes more energy and pollutes more to build it that a fuel efficient like camry...

i have always been a mitsu fan, but i dont ever see myself buying another one again if its a hybrid....whats the fun in that?

I have an 06 IX SE with 6200 miles on it. And I'm glad I talked my self out of selling it.
