Confirmed by Mitsubishi high offical: Lancer Evolution is no more
that's unfortunate, you should drive it... some day when you get to the point of either driving it, and will be disappointed you didn't drive it earlier, or some day if you end up selling it I'm guessing you will be disappointed it's not worth the tens of thousands of dollars you think it should be worth.
Keep it for another 70 years and you might have a million dollar vehicle for the museums ( of course that would equal 20 grand in today's dollars )
Why is this such a surprise? For the past year or so, the next "Evo" was touted as going green. The latest R&T article said Mitsu wasn't going to call their next sport sedan an Evo. In fact the forum backlash of a battery powered Evo was tremendous. This latest info makes no mention of not building the new high performance sedan, if anything it just confirms what has been leaking out all along.

This casts serious doubt on the production of any kind of next gen performance seden. It sounds like the decision was made by Mitsu management to go whole hog Eco and abandon all sporty/performance pretentions.

DON'T GET TOO CRAZY JUST YET.
More news in the article below. Looks like Mitsu will continue to sell the Evo in the US through 2013. So, breath a little sigh of relief.

The last evo, not based on a chrysler sebring chassis that is, was the Evo IX....
Mitsubishi probably had problems with the chrysler 200 chassis fitting the driveshaft and AWD so they shelved it.
