Confirmed by Mitsubishi high offical: Lancer Evolution is no more
Its truly sad for sure, but in all honestly Evos died for me when they stopped production of the 4g63. Ill probably end up trying to search out a low mileage stock 9 and keep playin with my 8. Most unfortunate for me is that ill never have the luxury of owning a brand new evo.

iv owned 4 cars with a 4g..the evo x is a nice car for sure but its just not the same..
Hopefully this executive was just being clever and meant that the "LANCER EVOLUTION" is dead but they will create a better, lighter Evo-like replacement that has nothing to do with a sucky lancer.
You could just buy one now, you know...
Probably not. The Lancer Ralliarts were never in high demand anyway.

Mitsu has been doing poorly because rest of their lineup SUCKS, NOT because of the Evo not selling well. They need to improve their Galant and regular Lancer to really boost sales.
Evo IS making a name for Mitsu.
Would people buy an Aveo because they love Corvette? I don't understand your logic here.
If getting rid of the best model in the lineup isn't a bad business move, I don't know what is.
amen

Ok, so Corvette's don't make people buy Aveo's; Evos aren't making people buy Galants; yet the Evo was built as a low production niche model to help boost the company image (i.e. to sell Galants). Do you see the problem here?
And how is the Evo the "best" model in the lineup? It certainly doesn't sell the best, and the margins on the car could be the lowest of their offerings.
My point is, I know it sucks they're getting rid of the car, but again, to think you know more about Mitsubishi's financials than they do it silly. The Evo didn't sell well, it didn't help sell cars, and now the company - knowing it can't compete any longer with the major manufacturers, is carving out a niche via EV technology and going green. The Evo is obsolete in their business model. Again, just trying to point out the other side here.

If Evo isn't Mitsu's best model, I don't know what is. Please enlighten me. With virtually 0 marketing for the Evo and prices as high as entry level bimmers, Evo's sales are fine.
I never claimed I know Mitsu's financials better than themselves. All I am saying is killing off the Evo is like shooting itself in the foot and I think most people here can agree. I understand the company needs a prius fighter to generate positive PR and I don't mind that but why cancel the Evo? GM didn't cancel Corvette for the Volt. IMHO, Mitsu should improve Galant and regular Lancer and keep the Evo.
Maybe we should hold off on the eulogies until something more official:

I think the Evo did very well considering that Mitsu did nothing to promote it. How many Subaru commercials and endorsements, and paid drivers, and so on to you see associated to the brand?? A butt load. And we all know the Evo is superior, or it would have fallen long ago. Green or not, bad move dropping the Evo, every car company needs the red headed step child.
doesn't it seem kind of like a waste that a company would invest so heavily on the design of the new 4B11 engine, not to mention toss the years of development and tuning of the S-AWC control system since the Evo VII, AND develop, test and integrate a TC-SST from Getrab in an all new platform all to throw it away from only 5-6 years of use? does not make economical sense... even with the facade of green and clean pledges... i might be in Egypt sailing along De Nile, but it seems the Evo technology will be spread amongst their new line of EV cars.. and we'll see a next gen Evo again...
i want to think happy thought... does anyone else remember GM canning the Camaro? or Nissan canning the Z? they came back ...eventually..
