Renault&Mitsubishi cooperation rumors
Renault&Mitsubishi cooperation rumors
Apparently it wasn't enough for Renault to be twin to Nissan and to have cooperation with Daimler, French LeFigaro paper announced that Mitsubishi(who already cooperates with other partner Nissan in JDM) will probably enter the talks with Renault since PSA cooperation seems to be fading out.
My idea:
Most likely small diesels will be used on Euro market, since thats the only thing Mitsubishi lacks, since CVT is same and petrols aren't needed for. Prolly aluminum V6's(that would prolly mean that Mitsubishi would use VQ series)
Of notable vehicles I would like to mention that would possibly fill Mitsubishi's holes in USDM are:
Renault Laguna a possible Galant replacement.
Renault Latidude a possible Diamante replacement
Renault Megane 3DR as a possible Eclipse replacement
Renault Espace as possible Mitsubishi Van
Opinions?

I'm quiet confused about Mitsu's recent relationship with Mercedes. Are they not partners anymore or something? Cuz I always thought that Mitsubishi's were a pretty good econo class alternative to Mercedes, pretty much like Nissan to Infiniti or Toyota to Lexus.
However passenger program cooperation ended up quickly. Mercedes ended up buying Mitsubishi Fuso trucks and today its one of best progressing brand for light trucks. And one that actually has huge growth in its market, which cannot be said for passenger cars sadly.

Basically this could mean few things:
1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renault_Samsung_SM5 or newer gen car manufactured in Busan will become Mitsubishi Galant.
2. Mitsubishi Lancer or similar car will be based on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renault...0.93present.29 or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renault_Fluence

Based on the current direction of discussions between Renault and Mitsubishi Motors, it is firstly expected that two new sedan models would be launched under the Mitsubishi brand, based on vehicles from the Renault portfolio. Secondary and additional studies around other projects will then be considered.
The first sedan, to compete in the full-size D-segment markets of the United States and Canada and would be manufactured at the Renault-Samsung plant in Busan, South Korea.
The second sedan model would compete in the global C-segment. The manufacturing location for this product is under discussion
