Just talked to don massey Mitsubishi in Denver, he said the MR is coming mid 05 model year. BUT he said he doesn't even have the 04 models including the RS yet, so who knows when it's coming here.

Before you all keep ranting and raving ACD / AYC / 5 speed / 6 speed................watch best motorings "the evo strikes back vid".
Some nice comparison of: rs 5speed/ rs 6 speed / gsr with acd/ayc , the advan evo (no ayc) and the puma evo (straight trackcar)

some of you guys are thinking that the 6-speed will give better highway cruising, i.e. a Z28 or a vette that has a super deep 6th gear. (This is how they manage 28 mpg on the highway). Mitsu wont do it like that, they will just space the gears closer for slightly quicker acceleration. I agree that the 6 speed wont be neccessary, especially if its proven to be weaker. I also agree that the electronic systems wont be neccessary for 99% of you. The aluminum roof isnt weaker than the steel roof, they still have to pass US rollover tests. If mitsu manages to get the MR out for less than 33k than it might be worth it, otherwise, I think you guys are getting excited for nothing. The Evo that the US has already handles increadibly on the street. Also, I am not sure if you guys already know this, and if you do then im sorry for repeating, but a major reason for the ACD/AYC stuff is so that mitsu can put a limited slip front diff on the car without resorting to throwing out the ABS braking system that people want in the US. If anyone has any idea how they shaved 300 pounds off the car without getting rid of any comfort items then I would like to know.
wait till next year, my evo o3 should be 550whp+,
MR's coming might be showing the new EVO IX's coming,
why donot we enjor our evo first, so sad seeing so many ppl selling their evo cheap now and just waste money and time to wait.
also, who knows what else will come from Japan in near future, if ppl want to wait, should wait for some different, or starting saving for others cars, like skyline R35 gtr or something.
trust me, MR owners might be enjory their new rides if there are tons of 03 regular evo on road. anyway, i just donot feel confident to buy another evo if i have to sell this one because there always some problems on new mitsubishi car.

They didn't shave 300 lbs off the weight of the car. Simple as that. Started as a misunderstading somewhere, and now everone thinks it's 300lbs lighter. That would make it even lighter than the Evo5/6, which it is not.
The Evo MR supposedly saves weight Via the AL roof, door bracing, and tranny/diff casings. According to my calculator, it's 178lbs lighter, not 300lbs. I'm comparing the published numbers on Mitsu's website, vs the numbers in the MR article in "Speed". Maybe there was some misinterpretation and someone said 178Kg, and they actually meant lbs. ???

ACD/AYC....more than just asphalt
An comparo from Canadian Driver illustrates the usefullness of the ACD/AYC on snow/ice....comparable to dirt/slick conditions.
heres the url: http://www.canadiandriver.com/articl...evo_vs_sti.htm
and please, no lame
canadians suck comments...we're adults here.
The Subaru has a traction advantage that comes from the way its three differentials have been set up: with a front limited-slip unit, a computer-controlled central diff, and a rear limited-slip, it seems to find traction where the Evo, with its open front diff and more simple mechanical centre diff, seems to just spin its wheels, scrabbling at the pavement and sliding across the snow.
The conditions we were driving in were (intentionally) extreme; we'd chosen snow-covered roads with a helping of glare ice to explore the cars' handling, and on pavement in more normal conditions, they'd be very close indeed. On pavement, the Evo is actually the better of the two.
That said, if you want to get your car into the down and dirty, the MR will rock

None of this matters. I say buy what opportunity presents and that car will make you happy regardless of the numbers. No one cares about 10HP when they're in traffic headed to the grocery store. If you track or autocross every weekend then you have a reason to pick everything apart. Aside from that every post here is nothing more than daydreaming and worrying ourselves to death over something we can't control. If you sit around waiting for the next coolest model of a car to come out you'll be sitting a long itme - if that's the way I'm saving now for a 2014 Skyline R39 GT-R Vspec III with its 2-turbo-per-cylinder inline 14 and 500mph top speed. Now - I'm gonna go have a chalupa because I want one. I'm not waiting until taco bell releases the Chalupa MR

lude That R39 is the dopiest shiznat yO! I'm surpirsed anyone has an Evo isn't out at the track every weekend.. But my MR will be a track star and am picking it apart, becuase it will be a multi purpose weekend toy. Track Star that can double as a double date vehicle to the local drive in theater and such..

, good luck
