As a club racer, the only real differences between the two will become evident on the track in a full out race car. Yes the aluminun roof Will make a difference, but only on a stripped out car. If you are building a race car you will throw out a lot of the suspension stuff anyway, so all the trick Bilstein stuff is irrelevent. The six speed MAY be a difference, either positive or negative, depending on the track configuration. Is it techinical or a power track? Too much shifting loses momentum or multiplies torque out of the corners. Will the six shift as clean as the five or be as strong? Big difference is the Quaiff front differential. Definate advantage on the track. Wish I had one on the 8, even on the street, But almost all won't need it even on track event days unless they plan to pass someone with two wheels on the grass. So my advice to all 8 ovners, don't sweat it. None of the new stuff will make much of a difference unless you plan to build a car for SCCA T1 or are in need of even more bragging rights than you already have. Even if the Japanese don't send all the good stuff over here it probably is more than you need, and if you do need it for a race car, you can get it. You gotta love the great technical stuff in a taxi cab format. Kinda reminds me of a hemi road runner type package. Ultimate bragging rights there, even if the car couldn't turn or stop. Be happy Mitsu even brought it over. Just have fun and don't worry about details that really make no difference to you overall enjoyment of a great package.
Praise the Lord. Somebody gets its

I think the MR is going to be a great addition the USDM EVO family. I think it will be way overpriced unfortunately. As for the gears, if it was engineered correctly, the 6-speed tranny should be more efficient. Hopefully Mitsubishi won't have their heads up their a$$es like Nissan North America did with the Sentra SE-R Spec V. The 5-speed in the SE-R was much quicker in all aspects than the 6-speed the the Spec V...As soon as I drove the EVO off the lot, I knew that it was already being updated with a more powerful version soon, it's normal. Think about how the 98-01 4.6L mutang owners feel. They got focked...the 02's were so much better as far as power...

Just the idiotic response I expected. You guys will believe everything that Mitsu says but call B.S. whenever someone posts about something you've never heard of. Figures...I'm surprised this website has lasted as long as it has with all the asses bringing it down.

Oh don't worry, I get it...but not many do. Everyone is thinking the MR is some "hot $hit" car but they will most likely never see a road course nor will they ever be pushed to thier limits.

i want to educate some of you on the problems mitsubishi is having. first off they admit to having problems, but that will not bring the company down. they invested 4.3 billion dollars and still have mitsubishi electronics and mitsubishi fuso. the company will not go down because it is big in some of those asian countries. i got a letter on my desk saying how mitsubishi will rebuild and is even coming out with a new truck! i would not doubt them bringing the MR to the states because they even brought over the RS which was probably a worse idea than the MR, but I can see the MR making sense because maybe someone would want a car that stands above any other car in that price range without question. I think its feasable and will most likely happen.

350Z...hmm, Nissan Fairlady is a nice car but it is no "supercar". The Supra was an overpriced and overweight P.O.S. with a good motor. Galant VR4, nice car but never marketed like it should have been. Evo VIII...base model, we'll never see what they really have to offer. NSX...please, it's a f'ing joke. I drive an Evo and have since February of this year. I've driven the Evo VI Tommi Makinen edition and two Evo VII's, one near stock and one Autocross. YOU obviously missed my point. The MR is an option package, not some GODSEND car from the land of Sport Compact Gods.

So take your JDM Fetish to Japan like all the posers who wanna be just like them.

I got a euro spec evo 7 GSR & it doesnt have climate control. I think the newer version 7's came w/ it. Mine was one of the 1st versions that came out. No rear wiper either.

OH MAN!!! i just realized your the coolest guy ive ever met, you obviously have great taste in cars and everything everyone says it wrong, but when you speak your right. damn dude thanks for showing us all the light into the world of what kind of cars everyone should like, everyone give this guy a round of applause. i mean....$#!+ the guy has driven cars we havent...that makes him right ALWAYS

are you kidding dude??? are you actually sitting blaitently infront of your screen thinking "i know more then all these mother f*ckers" your taste and your opinion is your opinion but dont you DARE sit there trying to convince everyone that their taste in cars is a bad one. go for a drive, watch ****, lay out some cardboard and do some old school break dancing, just do something besides sitting there telling people their taste in cars is wrong.

How about this? Nobody is right or wrong on most things said in this forum. Forums are a web-based form of a discussion. Everyone voices their opinions, and a debate evolves from it. Being web-based, it removes the bar from a public debate in which you hold back your words to avoid fighting with one another. All in all, nothing is really accomplished, because in a forum, many people also tend to lose sight of what a debate is, in which you try to convince someone with a differing opinion to see your point of view, and maybe change theirs to match yours. Bashing everybody back and forth does not do this, and probably pushes your opinions out into the open to only be battered by more people, and more people will begin holding onto their opinions even stronger than before.

Granted I can agree Cirrusly is using some strong words, but we should all be adults in here about it, considering it is the internet afterall...not exactly Sesame Street. Cirrusly has strongly voiced his/her opinions. Its up to you if you listen to them, or bring in some facts to support a differing opinion.

Sorry Tanner, banning accomplishes nothing and just leaves this as a pointless thread in which nothing was accomplished but the raising of testosterone levels. A few of you have posted some good findings and have supported it well (not limited to this little thread), and we all thank you for it. However, between the praising and nagging about the cars to come, we can really only go off what has been officially released, and any speculation will only cause more pointless flaming.

Yes, the new Grey on the MR is really nice. So are the headlamps and tails. I want them too. I may even wait on my investment for the MR's release, just so I can have this unique style. On the other hand, the Evolution we already have is quite nice. A white one with some personally blacked out heads and tails will look equally as good. Sure it won't be 150 pounds lighter, but if it really matters that much when you're driving around in suburbia (we all know the majority of Evo owners tend to be found there), why not push your mother in-law out of the passenger side? It could save you well over 150 pounds.

And I guess before I keep going on and on, for those of you who feel the need to call Evo owners who do indeed only find themselves in suburbia 'pansies' or the like, let them be. Sure they aren't pushing their car to its limits, but it is their investment, in which many do not want a single scratch on. Just look the other way, and be proud of what you do in your car.
