Hehe....MR is a joke
I just love all the in-fighting about what's going to be on the MR and what is not. Does anyone here seriously think that they will get a "real" Japanese car on American soil? Most of you are having pipe dreams if you think this car will have AYC and ACD. This "MR" crap is nothing but a package to add money to your purchase. Just like the OZ Rally edition of the base Lancer. Whoopdie doo, a 6 speed. Most people here will never understand why that is a waste of a gear in the Evo since most of you have never driven a 6-speed Evo VII or prior. (BTW, I have)
So keep on wishing for nought, in a few months I'll make another post telling you all "I told you so". But if I am wrong (fat chance) I welcome the future bashing since that just means we as Evo lovers will have something new to covet.
So flame on people....it's about the only thing this board seems good for.

Chill man, no one will probably care enough to bash you if you're wrong. At this point I don't think anyone is positive about what we will and won't be getting on the new evos. And instead of an "I told you so post", if this car is such a joke which I think is and will be a completely subjective matter and is about many cars. Why don't you do something more positive like maybe tell us about your experience driving the 6spd Evo VII or perhaps some other car you've driven and we haven't.
I just don't understand why they would give us ACD w/o AYC. After I read how it worked....and most articles that I read said that the ACD and AYC work in conjunction with each other. Now tell me this....why would mitsu totally revamp their system just to bring it here. They wouldn't!!! One cause the cash ain't there right now to develop it....and two it just doesn't make financial sense period! I would have to disagree with you on most of what you said. One, because of what I have seen in the cataloging...and two if you would just use an educated thought process here....it makes sense that they would bring it.
I think more fingers are pointing towards the US getting the AYC and ACD both, than not right at this point in time.

I commute 65 miles each day and a 6 speed will save gas for me. Haha, spend $4000+ to save gas. It's like buying a Honda Hybrid but that's a different topic there.
I like the Graphite Gray color. It's like a $4000 custom paint job, haha. Now, seriously, I just like an EVO8 but I want the top of the line. I don't care what's in it as long as they keep is an AWD.
Oh, about the ACD and AYC. It's all marketing. It makes bad drivers good and a great driver good.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Mitsu already bring a "real" Japanese car here to the states in the form of the VR4?
I wouldn't put it past them to try it again.
Besides, the "cool pop music" commercials aren't creating all that much excitement anymore. Mitsu needs something interesting to get them out of the rut they're in -- a little "automotive drama", in the form of an AYC surprise may be exactly what they need.

With all the problems with Mitsubishi, I hope that they do bring it over, and not just cancel it, Personally I don't see the point in 6 gears unless its a second overdrive not different ratios..
Hmm.. correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the first 6 speed available in the EVO was in the Euro and JDM VIII not VII...

Unless your counting reverse, Evo VIIIs were the first to have a 6-speed. I do not think we will get a Real JDM MR on US soil. We will get a improved Evo the 8.5. I think we will be getting ACD and possibly SAYC see Favre95's link.
The 6-speed is not that big of deal for me the Evo has wide enough powerband to perform well with the current 5-speed. I hope that the US MR has the world market MRs improved steel syncros.
If the MR is worth it over a regular '05 Evo we will have to wait until the price comes out. I think it will be for me.

Your probably the only person in this world to drive an evo VII with evo VIII drivetrain. I call this BS.Haven't you've seen the 6-speed pull away from the 5speed in the best motoring videos? It's obivious that the 5-speed looses in 5th gear pull on the track.
Are you going to tell us that the bilstien handle much worst? Or the aluminum roof doesn't help body roll? OR perhaps the MR with ACD maybe S-AYC is slower. And 6-speed trans pulls less than the 5-speed. I guess we'll wait and see

Don't like it don't buy it.

But the Evo line changes fast, if you personality pushes you to have the best and the latest, you picked an expensive product line to keep up with. The name is Evolution, which should be a hint. Every 18 months or so a new Evo will come out and most time will be better than all the current stock cars. Sure you can build a faster car out of the previous generation. Just like there are faster IIIs, IVs, Vs, VIs and VIIs in the world that will beat all of our VIIIs.
The MR buyers are getting bitter because people are raining on their parade. Some have waited though the Evo VIII release to hold out for a more JDM like package. What does it matter if you happy with you ’03. The release of the MR doesn’t change your car at all it will handle as well and be as fast as it was.
I also hope the Evo IX ,X etc. are truly special. Hell I hope the STis are really improved to. It will just push Hiroshi Fujii and the design team to improve the breed.
