my big **** fits snug into the UK recaro seat...sometimes the side bolster is a bit of a pain on the lower thigh area. As for Torque being proportional to HP...it's not always the case, as if you look at the WRC, the cars are limited to 300bhp, but the Torque figures are hitting nearly 700Nm..mmm

I understand what you are saying about the Rally Cars, but that is sort of special situation, and often not the case for street cars. I mean many people who EVOs here, don't experience lopsided power gains like that here. Plus the EVO MR has a bigger turbo, and I'm just confused on why only a 5-9 HP gain, what is the Euro version of the MR HP rating?

Horsepower = Torque * RPM / 5252
so if torque goes up but peaks lower in the rpm range you won't have as big a jump in hp, etc. simple math. this is also how most dynos work, by measuring torque and then extrapolating hp.

I don't believe this subject....I don't understand wanting to purchase a vehicle that is leagues ahead of just about anything shy of six figures in the cornering/handling department and the big debate is how quick is it in the quarter mile?......a straight run
On the 03 Evo by far the most impressive qualties IMO is the chassis poise, the telepathic steering and the brakes all of which work a lot better on the MR but are not used on a dragstrip....what a waste

See that is what I figured, the 2005 USDM EVO GSR is also going to have 276HP, and I believe 300HP is a more correct figure for the 2005 USDM EVO MR. I mean look at the EVO FQ-340- 340HP/320TQ and the EVO FQ-300- 300HP/290-295TQ then all of a sudden the EVO MR sways from this formula with 276-280HP/295TQ doesn't make any sense, and I believe that the correct HP rating for the USA EVO MR will be 300HP with 295TQ. Hopefully dyno numbers will prove it.

Is the MR HP rating really underrated, I mean it has a bigger turbo, but only an increase of 5 to 9 HP
There is an equation posted on this board that goes something like this:

HP = TQ x RPM(max torque)/5252

Therefore, the lower the RPM that you reach max torque, the lower the HP/TQ ratio. For an engine that reaches max torque at 5252 RPMs, they would be equal.

I apologize if I have the formula wrong, but it is close; another member had the actual formula in their signature for awhile, but memory doesn't serve.

Ok I calculated the formula using a base 2004 EVO-
HP= 273 x 3500RPM/5252 and I get 181.9306, and that makes no sense, even if it is meant at the wheels, it's still low. Am I doing it correctly?

yes so at 3,500rpms the car makes 181hp (theoretically)
