On the 03 Evo by far the most impressive qualties IMO is the chassis poise, the telepathic steering and the brakes all of which work a lot better on the MR but are not used on a dragstrip....what a waste

agreed. this car is wasted in the 1/4... well, not wasted... nevermind, it's wasted... blah to you all

I mean look at the EVO FQ-340- 340HP/320TQ and the EVO FQ-300- 300HP/290-295TQ then all of a sudden the EVO MR sways from this formula with 276-280HP/295TQ doesn't make any sense, and I believe that the correct HP rating for the USA EVO MR will be 300HP with 295TQ. Hopefully dyno numbers will prove it.

remember that in Japan, it is illegal to produce more than 280bhp on a productuion car (well an unwritten law). So if people ask how much the Evo produces they just say...mmmm...............276bhp, when in actual fact they produce nearer 300. Look at the Skyline R34 GT-R...that thing is no way 280bhp .

Maybe they mean 280hp at the wheels.

No...Hp is calculated using that formula but max torque is made at 3500 rpm and max power is made at around 6700 rpm at which point your torque has dropped right off....
without a dyno graph it is hard to explain...

No, 100 lbs is .10 and 10 HP is .10. A misshift or slow shift can also cost you .3 though. At the end of the 1/4 .1 is about equal to a car length also, to give some perspective.

To you guys calling yourselves fat at 175 lbs or 200 lbs, ever heard of body fat percentage? You might be fat at 175 but at 190 I have very little fat. You can be 400 lbs and not fat. You are probably a really tall bodybuilder though.

i think it's gonna hit about 12.8 and that's with perfect shifting

Well if it really is hitting 107-108MPH trap speeds, then mid to high 12s should be the norm. Slower and crappy drivers should still be able to hit low 13s. That is if it really does have 107-108MPH trap speed potential. I think it does, more power, less weight, better tires, and 6-Speed should easily have this car at around 107-108MPH Trap Speeds.

Is the MR HP rating really underrated, I mean it has a bigger turbo, but only an increase of 5 to 9 HP

Depends on where the torque is made. Horsepower can be calculated if you know the torque and the engine rpm. Power is defined as how hard you push and how far you push in a given time. Torque would be how hard and rpm would be how far in a given time. Horsepower is usually the important factor, as long as the hp is not very peaky. Those who say things like torque wins races just are referring to a flat power band, but a car with just as flat a power band, that had less torque but made it at a higher rpm so it made more hp, would be faster. The reason is similar to the idea of a mechanical advantage or lever, but to get the point, you could use different gearing with the car that had less torque but at a higher rpm so that there would be greater torque at the wheels. Anyway, if the MR makes more torque at the place where it makes peak hp, then the hp peak will increase, if it makes more torque lower in the powerband, the peak hp will not increase. They must be not letting full boost stay on at high rpms, hence the torque drop causing a hp number that is less than the torque number.

The specs I saw for the MR were 285hp and 295 lb torque as rated in speed magazine for what thats worth. I also saw 12.8 seconds for the quarter mile and 4.8 for 0-60 time in more than one spec listing.
