Evo MR - Radio?? Bolt-on Parts??
Evo MR - Radio?? Bolt-on Parts??
Does anyone know if the MR will come with a radio? All of the photos that I have seen of the MR show the car without a radio. Could it be like the 04 STI which came wired for speakers etc. but no radio. ??
The spec sheet for the 05 Evo and MR available on Mitsu web site states that the "MR Package" (standard) contains the aluminum sport pedals, turbo boost guage kit, (including boost, voltage, and oil pressure) with a carbon fiber guage bezel.
this is not what the interior looks like on the UK and JDM vehicles. If so, where is the guages placed, and do you think the console will look similar to the existing Evo and not the JDM MR??
In addition - will bolt-on parts like exhaust and intake items be exactly the same on the MR ?
Any info or speculation would be great.

MR hvac may be in lower Din for US MR
Sounds to me like the MR may have the lower Din Electronic HVAC controls
in order to accomodate the Guage package successfully
The original guage package location on the 03's sucks, they should be in a position to easily read them as and when needed, same as the Headunit so double DIN is the way to go, HVAC should have always been located in the lowest DIN out of the way.

Can anyone *confirm* the availability of any of the leather, sun, and sound package items from the '04 Evo for the '05 Evo MR? I know these are antithetical to a performance-centric car, but I'm just curious what is going to be available in terms of options (beyond the Mitsu press release). TIA.

I'm pretty sure that there will be no leather available in the MR, the sound system is a 140 watt Infinity w/ 6 speakers on all MRs. It would be absolutely rediculous to put a sunroof on this car because one of it's selling points is an aluminum roof, I've been told that will not be an option. I say if a sunroof is that important, just get the GSR, put MR badges on it and tell everyone you have the biggest and best toy.

Thanks, The Bear, the first two pages were what I hadn't seen. I can perfectly understand the sunroof not being an option for the obvious reasons you mention. Leather I find a bit harder to understand, since Mitsu has to know that a lot of people will be using this as a commuter car (hence the 6-speed); at $35K or so, leather is almost an expectation. I don't mind, personally, but I think a lot of people will be a bit disappointed by this. If you're getting cloth because it's more race-friendly/grippy, then maybe you should be getting an RS instead...just a thought. I'm just thankful the stereo is standard DIN.
I agree that leather should probably be an option. I really wouldn't want it myself, because I don't really care for leather. From what I've read the MR offers a little more street drivability, the suspension supposedly has a more comfortable ride so yeah, it makes sense that they would offer more "luxurious" options. It would be cool if the seats look different, maybe more like the black and red seats that the rest of the world has. There are alot more STIs around here because people like the look of the interior and I think it has kind of placebo effect on they're perception of the build quality.
In the end though, I think alot of people around here also believe you always get what you pay for and just buy what is more expensive. I hope Mitsu doesn't catch on to it but I've always thought the Evo would be more successful here if it was 10 grand more. It would definently appeal more to the Road&Track crowd. Anyways, back to topic, I would rather install my own stereo but as long as I can take it off and it doesn't boost the price too much I don't mind how "sh!tted up" (my new word
) they make it.

I wouldn't pay for the option anyway - it's cheaper and better to put in aftermarket if you want a stereo.
The 04 EVO leather interior is sweeeeet looking. I think it really makes the interior look much better. They did a nice job, and the leather on the doors and the way it belnds with the dash - it's really nice. Obiviously for racing, the cloth makes a better choice - but Mitsu listened to the people who complained that the interior was lacking. I think the leather looks 1000% better, and now makes the STI interior look bad.
The MR will have the Black cloth seats like you see on the UK and JDM version.
