I need everyones quarter mile times!!! Please
I am doing a Statistics project where I am looking to see if there is a difference between the 6-speed IX MR's vs the 5-speed SE or regular IX models in quarter mile performance. So can you please post what car you have and your quarter mile times. These times must be for bone stock evo IX's and please specify which specific evo you have (MR or IX or SE). I cannot include the rs models in my analysis because of the large weight difference. Thanks a lot and I will let you all know what the turnout of my analysis is.

just make them up, they're all 12.9-13.5 @ 100-105MPH
the MR really doesn't matter vs. the GSR or RS stock because it traps low enough stock that a shift to 5th isn't necessary

The weight difference from a normal IX to an RS is only 44 lbs. I believe the weight difference from a normal IX to an MR is about 20 lbs. Neither of the difference will make a significant change in ¼ times. However, if you get a large enough sample size the weight difference alone might account for the RS being slightly faster then a normal IX and a normal IX being slightly faster than an MR.
Basically, I am saying that a normal IX an MR have many more changes then just 5 or 6 gears, making it difficult to draw a conclusion about which would be better for drag racing.

I didnt say there werent flaws in the research but it is just a project that my friend and I have to do for AP stats and since I like evo's I figured I would do it on that. Please though, I just need data, not your opinions on why this isnt a good idea. I will tell you if there is a significant difference between quarter mile times after my analysis.
Thanks,
Ross

Yeah, I know what you're asking for, and I really enjoy statistics, but you're not going to get a good data sample in a thread like this. There are too many variables, such as driver ability, altitude, weather conditions, track conditions, etc., that make it impossible to do a proper statistical analysis between models.
Dudical, yes, the listed weight differences are pretty close, but it does seem that the RS models are significantly lighter. They also tend to put down the most extreme times in stock form and in lightly-modded form, which points again to a great weight difference than Mitsu listed.
