No, it gained 5 HP and 13 lb-ft of torque over the '03/'04 models. All '05s have the uprated engine.

Hey there is no way that the MR is only 25 LBS. lighter than the stock EVO's. They must of meant to say that it is 25 lbs. lighter than the RS. Those are the only two models that come with the lightwieght roof. It is supposed to be about 300 lbs. lighter than the stock evo's.

 

Nope the MR isn't much lighter than a regular Evo. It has all the options, insulation, trim, etc. The roof removes something like 8lbs and the wheels are a little lighter.

 

I don't think a lightweight roof can drop 300lbs. off the car. But pulling any weight off the top of the car will result in a good improvement in the twisties. Remember, the MR still has AC, power stuff, and a radio. In addition, I would think the 6-speed and ACD would all add weight. It's suprising they dropped any weight at all.

 

Acutally makes me feel a bit better with my 04 choice.

 

They basically said the MR was better to them then the other evos

 

yeah but I think FstApexEvo meant that since they didn't think that it was drastically better, that he is ok with having an 04 since he's not missing out on TOO much, you know what I mean?

Wow finally, a MR article with nothing but the truth in it. No the MR is not 300lbs less... No none of the MR's improvements are really noticable at all compared to that of the base 05 Evo. Now maybe this secret war between the 03/04 Evo owners and the prospective 05 Evo owners can stop. We arnt getting some uber super ultimate race car that the previous models stand no chance against, and this article proves that. I think im gonna put this link in my sig lol. Great find sir!
