New STi 1'06"896
R34 GTR 1'06"983
New Spec C 1'07"465 <-- driven by Gan-san
These are race results and tells you how anything can happen in wheel to wheel racing and has more to do with driver/luck than the car. Just look at the STi ahead of the Spec C.

FYI, GSR has SAYC and is 6 speed only.

But Crusty's point is that the MR GSR is heavy. It comes with all the usual GSR trimmings like oh, air conditioning, more soundproofing, ABS etc which all add to the weight. If you watch the video, you will even see the freaking factory fitted audio system :P

The Spec C on the other hand is sorta like a hybrid between the MR RS and GSR. It is still stripped down in weight like the RS, having no aircon, no audio system.. but it also includes Subaru's DCCD which should help the Spec C handle better than the RS.

But this is because the RS is designed with a different goal in mind. Racing/rally teams buy the RS and then proceed to strip it bare and would throw in a better LSD, better brakes etc.

GSR is anywhere from 88-200 lbs heavier than a RS depending on options. And I'm not totally convinced that the lesser weight is always better than some of the performance items. At any rate, some things like audio don't weight that much. If you go down that road you better start comparing driver fat too.

Which is why Crusty then proceeded to mention that the GSR ended up first in the Tsukuba 5 lap race, followed by the RS. The STI and Spec C were further behind despite the higher torque figures.

Still, a stripped RS with AYC and ACD and minus the padding/frills of the GSR would have done even better.

And yes, if you are serious about racing and shaving track times, START EXERCISING!!!

So by that you're saying GSR is faster than RS? That GSR losing by 8s at the ring means RS would lose by even more?

I wouldn't put too much into those race results.. they can race again and again and get different results everytime I'd bet. Except once awhile they toss in a different class car that gets blown out by hp.

The RS had the quickest lap time and time attack. It just had a crappy first lap time which screwed up the overall time.

Apparently you don't read very well. The RS started at the back of the grid, with the GSR ahead.

Look, the Spec C was driven by Gan-san. The same dude who has lots of experience at the ring, and IMO the best and most aggressive driver of the lot. This is the same guy who showed the NSX-R's taillights to a Ferrari 360, Gallardo, M3 CSL etc at Twin Ring Motegi. Why is it so hard to accept that the very same source you quoted has shown that the MR is the faster car around the track? Can you even comprehend what would happen if Gan-san was driving the MR RS 6 speed?
