white8, do you know of any places that sell block heaters for the EVO. Having a hard time finding one.
One more question, do you have a print out of the dyno graph? I'm curous where peak torque is at.

and the car runs GREAT except for the cold start thing but that is somehting that just has to be accepted.
I haven't had start up issues yet, It is fine when I leave for work with it in my garage(4am) but when I leave work after the car has been sitting for 8+ hours in just 50 degrees it starts ok but I have to let it warm up about a minute or it stumbles pretty bad. I'm a little worried about the winter coming up with the temps getting close to +/-0. I do have an optima in the trunk hopefully that helps

I'm thinking a block heater is the answer.

this morning it wasnt so cold took me 3 cranks. started and died 2nd attempt 4 cranks boom, i let it sit for about 5 seconds and i left very SLOWWWWWWLY.

Otherwise on really cold days it took me 10+ cranks then dies, couple more cranks starts up and stays running. It really sux when all your thinking about is drainage of your tiny battery when your running late for work!

Hard starting in cold weather was actually the reason its taking a long time for E85 to become popular.

Back in the beginning of combustion engines, you could get gasoline or alcohol to run your engines, but gasoline made more power at the time, and the engines were easier to start. I think it was around the time of prohibition that we stopped seeing ethanol as an available fuel.

Its hard enough to get them to crank long enough to light off gasoline after its been sitting.

This is also why cold regions get a "Winter blend" with more gasoline in them. True flex fuel vehicles have sensors that can determine the alcohol content of a fuel and adjust accordingly. We don't have a "DIY" method of doing this yet thats widely available and used, therefore tunes have to reflect these changes, by either running significantly lower boost or retuning when you switch blends.

OH, a few years back I did read about a guy running Ethanol in his carbureted car, he used an auxiliary tank, fuel switchover, and ran gasoline in that tank for cold starts.. then switched over when the engine warmed up.

It seems like there should be a way to run the heater on a spare battery. I don't autox in the winter so I wouldn't care about the weight.

Unless you are a hard core tree hugger I don't see why you would insist on running e85 in the winter. I would run pump gas in the colder months and switch back to e85 in the spring.

I think e85 is worse for the environment then 93 0r 92 oct cuz well we have to use 30% more of it then any other car were not flex fuel and even on flex fuel vehicle the percentage that it was helping the environment was tiny! I dont know this for sure but it would just make sense to me. espeicially in the winter we'll be suckin that e85 hardcore! prolly burn up those walbros lol!

I guess I could run with two maps. That's possible with a Tactrix cable and Ecuflash isn't it?
