Utec 2005?

Just as the title says, will it work? My 05 will be here any day, so I want to make sure it will work. If it needs to be updated I would be willing to test it.

From what I'm aware of, there are no significant wiring changes on any of the new Evo models, AYC/ACD and other features have their own control unit and should not have any direct ECU connection, at least anything that is significant enough that the passthrough would affect it.

However most of my info is based on my knowledge of the earlier Evos which did have these features and they weren't directly integrated to the ECU.

Safest bet is wait for one of the TurboXS guys to have an opportunity to test it on a new model before attempting to install one.

Everything is the same, maf sensor reads slightly different making the base map run too lean. Which is why on the site is states don't use these basemaps with the MY05+.

We have tuned several 05 lately, the problem is that no one brings a stock car to get a starting point on.

Thanks,

Just spoke with Jermaine from Turbo XS, he said the UTEC's will work for 05s it is just that they need to be tuned for the base maps to work as they are too lean for 05s. So you would just have to add a little fuel and they will work fine.

Jermaine,

How lean are we talking about? I purchased a UTEC from an '03 owner, and want to test the unit for proper function on the car. It's in the garage currently stored for the winter, I don't want to install it this spring only to find out it's junk.

My car has the basic bolt-ons (TBE, Intake, MBC..etc). How far off are you from a suitable '05 map w/TBE? -Gabe

I don't trust base maps. But yeah it works, I used the UTEC on my 03 Evo and now on my 05 MR.

Any "base" map should at least get the car running safely. I certainly didn't buy the UTEC for the base map.....I'm more interested in knowing that the base map will allow me to run up and down the street datalogging safely....

A tuned map from Pruven, but I still need to get there to get it fixed. They said they would fix the tune and I have left a few messages just no calls back.
