Remember, a very lean condition likely would result in detonation regardless of ignition timing due to spontaneous ignition (hot spots igniting the fuel without ever seeing spark)
Check www.vividracing.com they used to have them in stock.. A few other shops like www.machevo.com and www.500whp.com should be able to at least get it for you..

The 5000 - 5500 is the area of peak cyl pressure and the most knock prone. I will post up the stock ignition timing data tomorrow after I have a chance to get to the office where my equipment is. The stock ignition timing is very choppy and unsmooth. You'll see when i post up some on the data.
On my tunes I run very conservative timing through 5500 and then ramp it up to red line quickly as the boost is falling off.
In most cases on 93 octane 8 degrees would be the most you could hold through 5000 - 5500 and in some cases significantly less than that especially on Californian gas. I dont like to go over 19 degrees on pump gas cars up top - the gains from running higher are not worth the reduction in saftey margin.

Did you ever get a chance to get the data for the stock timing maps. I am curious to see what they are. Since my car was flashed by you, i have no idea of the stock timing on my car.
Knock Link
I have a Knock link. I installed it where the engine pulling bracket is on the exauhst side of the motor.
It seems that the sensor picks up a lot of engine noise at around5500-6500 RPM, and the red led lights up for a split second. It doesn't seem to be knock.
Does anyone have this problem, or is there a better place to mount the sensor

Yeah, that location is right near the timing gears, I get the same thing on my Tuner it seems like it may be a resonance in the valvetrain at that RPM.. HOWEVER Al does see it, and does tune for it, so its possible its some form of detonation or mild ping.. I generally adjust timing in that area to reduce it to the point where the factory sensor doesn't see it any longer, and the TurboXS tuner doesn't pick it up over its trigger threshold (the indicator light on the tuner)
I kinda wonder if removing the balance shafts on the engine, it gets any better, or worse..

Knock Link
Yeah, when I first started seeing it, I was getting worried. I tried to adjust for it when I had me SAFC II. It seemed no matter what I did it still would light up at the same time in the RPM band. At that point I knew it had to be something in the valve train or something, because it was so consistent.
Hey malibu Jack, I sent you a PM with some questions, did you get it.
