i have a buddy who has an 03 lancer evolution. all he has is a turbo back from buschur an intake filter a bov and an afc. i dont know how much horse power this maybe but at the track he ran a 12.30. with just does few mods.Is that possible or do you guys think he is just not telling me something else. because if thats the case i will have him tune my afc.please let me know what u guys think.

 

sounds about right......my friend has the buscher TBE with test pipe,boost controler and the SAFC (stock intake) he is putting down 305whp....his car runs great

 

I disagree with the first response. An 03 with these mods will not be running a 12.3 regardless of driver or elevation, for it can't make enough MPH. He would have to at least have boost control to get enough MPH for a 12.3 (110-112). To get a 12.3 with a really low mph (109), he'd have to have an aftermarket clutch cutting low 60's (1.6x) and then drive like a banshee. Even then, 03-04s with the mods listed above don't usually do much better than 12.8@107.

It is possible to run a 12.3.. Its all in the driver... Theres a guy in tampa who ran a 12.8 stock .. no nothing.. And also Theres the worlds fastes stock turbo'd 1G.. thats right a 14b.. running 11.3.. Joe B is the guy.. so you see it is possible... If you launch just right and shift like god you can do it.. Ask him what his 60' was .. if its higher than a 1.6 than he probably didnt do it... Does he have a slip?

 

yeah he does have the slip and yeah i forgot to add that he does have a boost controller. no injectors and by that i mean stock injectors. and he was on a stock clutch now he is on a clutch master stage 3. i will let him tune my car just to see if maybe i can get a better time out of my car he is not the best driver not saying im god but better than him..thanks guys if there is some one that thinks different of these mods let my know i wanna hear all sorts of stuff.

 

Well, the MBC was a very important thing to mention. If he did have upgraded injectors, it would make extreme S-AFC tuning more plausible, but with the stock ones, he can only lean out the car to a certain extent safely. If he was on the stock clutch and isn't an INCREDIBLE driver, then I highly doubt he ran a 12.3.

I don't know what 03BREvo8 is babbling about, but the 1g using a 14b has nothing to do with this. I know all about how superior driving can glean faster times, blah blah, but there's only so much you can do on the stock clutch and with the 03-04 having a 9.8cm^2 hotside. If this was an 05, I'd be less skeptical, but those basic mods on an 03 don't usually hit a 12.3. Not saying it's not possible, but it's very unlikely, especially since he's supposedly not a great driver. If he has cams, or if he was using race gas, then it all changes.

I assume the guy in Tampa ran his stock 12.8 on an 05, since my MR was certainly capable of a 12.9 without the S-AFC, but I didn't know how to launch yet with the 5k limiter. I don't believe this guy did it on an 03-04. Also, if the 12.8 was in an 05 RS, then you're just withholding info to support your argument.

 

i know he does'nt cam... he is not the grestest driver but belive me it has happened. i see why you are so skeptical.. i know modded evos that dont really hit that and it is bugging me i will post the video of his run and mods to shoe you exactly what i am talkin about
